More from this darling Dallas nursery… the large cabana stripe on the shades lends a not so serious air to the space while the palette will easily age up with this kiddo. Playfulness and agency is the name of the game in this children’s room, soft modular furniture, cozy rug, accessible toys and room to run around make for lovely play sessions! Of course, every kids rooms needs some vintage pieces and family heirlooms to give it soul.

Here is a close up of a custom bookshelf we designed for a narrow bedroom entry in this Dallas home. The idea was low, safe storage so kids could explore and pull whatever caught their interest off the shelf themselves... a la Montessori. The diamond shape on the doors gives a hint at what is hiding within, and the okra green brings some life to what was otherwise an awkward little space.⁠

Thinking about redoing a room before everyone descends for the holidays? Now is the time to start thinking about it! I have a few spots open on The Expert to help with exactly that.⁠

This headboard, from a project in Dallas, is pink silk with a canary velvet tape trim, just enough to give the expanse of pink some structure. Underneath the canopy I put a fairly workaday olive linen check next to a delicate floral, which is a pairing I keep returning to, something a bit graphic and structured sitting alongside something humble and unstudied. The squiggle lamp and the lacquered chest do the same job in three dimensions. Every room needs a bit of that push/pull.⁠

One of my favorite things to do for our projects is to create something entirely new. For this sherbet colored kitchen we decided to design our own hardware for the space. Carved out of white oak and meant to resemble the shape sand makes under the waves near the shore, we designed 3 shapes to be applied across the different door sizes.

My favorite part about this room was being able to borrow, rent, or have donated such beautiful high end rare pieces that I don’t get to use in my everyday work. Exquisite silk velvets, antique marble statues, Chinese urns the size of a fire hydrant, a pristine rare antique rug, all custom upholstery and elaborate details. Participating in Kips Bay gave me the opportunity to push it creatively and that was one of the best things about the whole experience.

Splash splash! No boring bathrooms here- we loved playing with a variety of red and white tiles in this guest bath. Secondary bathrooms can be both budget savers and a place to experiment and have fun. Bold design doesn’t always mean higher cost and I love getting creative with color in these spaces. 🍄

Palette play. One of my favorite practices is to zoom in on works of art to break down the whole into tiny studies of line, pattern, color, and composition. Nothing reveals the brilliance of the artist more than zooming in 500%. Pictured here is “Man at the Fireplace” (“Homme à la cheminée”) painted by Pablo Picasso in 1916 and seen by me at the Picasso Museum in Paris.

Drawing influence from the tile work in ancient bathhouses and aiming to create something fanciful in this area, my clients and I decided on a bespoke tile banner that would encase the entirety of the bathroom. This enabled us to create a design that had a big impact on the space while also managing the budget by utilizing a more economical field tile for the remaining areas. The design is lively, bold, and precise. It showcases a neoclassical strength in its patterns and lines, balanced by a whimsical palette.

The globe lights make me think of an oysters pearl and the beautiful patinated brass fixtures sport deco era embellishments, completing the layered look. Swipe right for some progress pics!

More inspiration from this Paris apartment that I keep revisiting in my camera roll. I love when something really sticks with me like that- its been over a year since I toured this apartment and I can’t get it out of my head. designed the apartment for the family of who has continued the legacy of design through his new vision for . This was from my 2025 Paris trip for Déco Off.
