Farm2Yarn

Farm2Yarn Alpaca, yak, llama and sheep fiber hand-selected at small North American farms.

Farm2Yarn was born of my desire to share high-quality, unique fiber--from roving to yarn--with others who have the same passion for handcrafted fiber arts that I do. I buy raw fiber from small farms--sometimes even participating in the shearing--and then I have it processed and blended at a family-owned mill. Some of the fiber--especially the baby alpaca--I process myself, blending it with tussah

silk, cashmere, merino or angora for sale in small, rare batches. Once the fiber has been processed into roving, it might be sold outright, dyed, painted, spun, or spun and then plied with beads. Whatever form it's in, the quantities are extremely limited so make sure you buy enough for your project as each lot represents an entire year's fleece production and availability, color, and texture vary from year to year.

And the total is in for Spinzilla! I spun 64.7 oz spun into 5930 yds (3.4 miles) of yarn! My left thumb feels sprained, and the skin on my left index finger where the yarn slides over is rubbed raw. I’m going to take a few days off… :-)

Over halfway through Spinzilla and I have spun and skeined 1,842 yds of scrumptious fleece from Levi the alpaca, and hive two very full bobbins more to ply this morning. Expect to have about 4,000 yds spun (since Monday) by noon. I love Spinzilla week!
