Some of our favorite details from this soulful home, including sconces designed and crafted by Marcus himself.

Timelessness was always the goal in this Los Angelous home. We worked with the traditional architecture already in place, mixing pieces from different periods and leaving room for the family’s own collections. This room doesn’t belong to any certain point in time, and that’s what we love most about it.

At nearly one hundred years old, Alex Katz is still painting, capturing the essence of modern life with his signature flat colors and larger-than-life scale. In this living room, his striking canvas acts as a playful counterpoint to the grand classical architecture. It’s also a nod to the artist’s philosophy of painting quickly and confidently in a single session, bringing an effortless energy to the space.

An identity has to be imagined and crafted. For this Fort Worth home, we wanted the interiors to feel as welcoming and relaxed as the family who lives here.

A polished vellum console sits alongside an old trunk. The mix of refined and weathered keeps the space from feeling too formal.

An invitation to slow down. Morning light through the tall drapes, a quiet table for two, and the day begins at its own pace.

We’re taking it all the way back to the Southern Living Showhouse from 2011 in Horseshoe Bay, TX. Hard to believe we’re just a few weeks away from doing it all over again!

This year’s Idea House is in Fredericksburg, Texas, right in the heart of the Hill Country. We’re joining fellow Texas designers Jean Liu Design and Paloma Contreras to bring this modern farmhouse to life, and we can’t wait for you to see what we’ve been working on.

Grab your tickets at the link in bio. See you in Fredericksburg!

Mohair has long been one of our favorite upholstery fabrics. It wears beautifully over time, naturally resists stains, and has a richness that’s difficult to replicate. It’s proof that the most practical materials can also be among the most beautiful.
