From a full kitchen design to baths, paint selections, and finishing touches throughout the home, this project was all about layering intention over time, blending transitional modern style with subtle mid-century moments.

Clean lines, warm textures, and a whole lot of intention. 🤍

This space is a perfect snapshot of how we approach design + renovation: modern, livable, and thoughtfully layered—where every decision serves both function and feeling. From the sculptural lighting overhead to the soft, inviting seating and moody bar moment in the back, it’s all about balance.

We’re especially proud of this project as it earned us NARI Remodeler of the Year 2025 – Austin 🏆
An honor that reflects not just the finished space, but the planning, collaboration, and trust that went into it.

👋 It’s been a minute, and with so many new faces here, we wanted to take a moment to reintroduce ourselves.

We’re Natalie & Adam Simpson, the husband-and-wife team behind Palmetto Interiors & Renovations. Palmetto is a family-owned interior design firm built on experience, collaboration, and a genuine love for creating homes that feel as good as they look.⁠

Natalie, our Principal Designer, has been designing homes since 2013. With a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design and years of experience co-owning a design firm in California, she brings a thoughtful, client-focused approach to every project, blending creativity with function and clarity.⁠

Adam leads operations and keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes. With a background in business and hospitality (including owning restaurants in the Bay Area), he focuses on organization, communication, and systems so the entire process feels seamless and stress-free.⁠

After relocating to Austin in 2021, we built Palmetto around the kind of design experience we’d want ourselves: transparent, organized, and enjoyable from start to finish.⁠

Swipe for the before and after.

Working on this project was a meaningful reminder of why we do what we do. Guiding this home toward its fullest potential while honoring its past was deeply fulfilling, and we are incredibly grateful for the opportunity.

As a now-iconic piece of Austin architecture, 705 W Mary carries a history and charm that deserved to be protected. Our intent was never to create a fresh start for the home, but to thoughtfully celebrate what made the home unique — quirks included.

Every decision was deliberate, striking a balance between traditional character and modern livability. We focused on timeless materials and thoughtfully selected elements that would elevate the space, complement the existing architecture, and continue to grow gracefully with the home.

This project also reinforced how essential strong partnerships are to successful outcomes. Every builder, and vendor contributed skill, care, and collaboration at each step — and their expertise is reflected in both the process and the final result.

A sincere thank you to and for your trust and partnership throughout this journey. We’re honored to have played a role in the next chapter of this remarkable home.

From dated + divided ➡️ warm, sculpted, and intentional ✨

This kitchen is getting a full re-imagining—soft curves, lighter woods, integrated storage, and a layout that finally works with the way the home is lived in. The before was serviceable but segmented; the after is calm, architectural, and connected to the rest of the house.

Think:
• A sculptural island moment
• Better flow between kitchen + living
• Thoughtful storage where you actually need it
• Materials that feel timeless, not trendy
