A Little Classical Music MiracleOur Afternoon Rhythm, Just Me and My Baby

Midday has always been the most challenging time.Even after playing and eating, my baby often becomes fussy—squealing, twisting, and releasing tiny bursts of emotions that seem hard to untangle.

One afternoon, an idea popped into my mind.I placed my phone beside him and softly played Johann Strauss Jr.’s The Blue Danube.

That was when the first little miracle happened—his furrowed brows slowly relaxed, his round eyes opened wide as if saying, “What is this new sound?”The babbling quieted down, and he actually opened his mouth for another spoonful of purée.Then another. And another.Watching him cooperate so peacefully made me smile without even realizing it.

The house was still the same—toys scattered, dishes waiting, but somehow the music wrapped the room in a gentle glow. Our afternoon suddenly felt… elegant.

Since that day, we have a tiny classical music date every afternoon.

🎶 How Classical Music Helps Babies
Eases fussiness with gentle, predictable rhythms

Stimulates brain development, especially in language and memory areas

Improves focus during meals or playtime

Creates a sense of safety through consistent, soothing sound patterns

🌸 And the Magic It Brings to Moms
As soon as the music begins, my own rhythm softens. My shoulders slowly unclench, and my heart feels like someone brushed it with calm.

I’m sure my baby sees more smiles on my face in those moments—not the forced ones, but the warm kind that return naturally when my mind finally exhales.

After lunch, we lie on the sofa together,I hold his tiny hand and wave it gently with the melody. For a few minutes, it feels like an orchestra is right in front of us.We become two conductors—one big, one small—swaying to the music and letting the afternoon drift by softly.

Those moments are quiet, yet full of life.

If one day he remembers:“In the afternoons of my childhood, there was Mom, there was music, and there was happiness,”then today’s little song is worth everything.

The Sleep Battle of Mom and Dad 🌙

One night, after being woken up for the third time,
we exchanged a glance.
There was no resentment in our eyes, just a silent thought:
“Alright… it’s time.”

And so, we officially launched the baby sleep training.
Not just to help him sleep better,
but to give ourselves a chance to breathe again.

1. Retreat from the battlefield

Mom and Dad moved to another room.
It wasn’t running away—it was the last line of sanity.
Sometimes, distance is the only way to find peace.

2. No more nighttime feeding

From that night on, there would be no more milk at night.
The kitchen was closed, but our hearts stayed open.
We had to learn to tell the difference:
crying doesn’t always mean hunger—it can just be habit.

3. Make sure he drinks enough during the day

During the day, he had to drink enough milk.
It’s the foundation for a calm night—and a parent’s little strategy.
“Eat well, sleep well”—just like us.

4. Deploy the white noise

When crying breaks the night’s silence,
we send in the white noise.
That gentle hum is like a soft fog,
covering the darkness,
reminding him of the rhythm of mom’s arms,
and slowly, he relaxes, calms down, and drifts back to sleep.

5. The three-minute waiting game

Those three minutes of nighttime crying
feel like a test of willpower for parents.
We watch the clock, struggling inside, counting the seconds.
And the amazing thing is: often, before the three minutes are up,
the crying stops on its own.

6. Don’t pick him up—just pat

When we enter the room,
we don’t pick him up.
We just gently pat his chest and rub his forehead,
letting him know:
“You are not alone.”

7. The pacifier strategy

Finally, we hand over a pacifier.
A small comfort, but enough to gradually calm him down.
Fingers loosen their grip, cries fade, breathing becomes steady.
In the quiet of the night, he learns to find security on his own.
In that moment, the crying softens, the breathing steadies.
He closes his eyes as if saying:
“With you here, I can sleep a little longer.”

Days later, the nighttime crying gradually shortened,
and the house regained a long-lost quiet.
One night, he even slept through.

We, however, lay awake in the dark,
checking on each other: “Is he okay?”

It turns out the true lesson of sleep training
isn’t teaching the baby to sleep,
but teaching mom and dad how to let go.

The Experimental Spirit of a Mom

The baby has started eating solid foods.

Every day feels like a tiny taste adventure—carrots, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, applesauce—each new flavor makes the little one’s eyes sparkle, while Mom watches with quiet joy.

But for several nights in a row, the baby kept waking up crying, his tummy tight and round, his little face all scrunched up.Mom held him close, gently massaging his belly, helping him stretch his legs, quietly taking mental notes like a scientist in the dark.“Daytime activity seems the same, milk intake too… so what’s causing this?”

So, she switched on her experimental mode.Yawning but determined, she began listing hypotheses in her half-sleepy mind:

Was it the formula milk?

Was the solid food too close to bedtime?

Or maybe too much daytime activity tiring out the tummy?

After some thought, she decided to tweak just one variable—feeding time.Instead of serving solids at dinner, she moved it to lunchtime or morning.A tiny adjustment, a micro-experiment in daily life.

The result was surprising—That very night, the baby slept five straight hours. Two nights in a row, no midnight crying, no gassy wake-ups.

Watching her baby sleep peacefully, Mom felt a small but deep sense of accomplishment. Not boastful pride—just the quiet satisfaction of finally figuring it out.Maybe even a tiny spark of smug delight—after all, this was her very own hypothesis tested and proven true.

She smiled to herself.Parenting isn’t only about love and patience—it’s also about observing, hypothesizing, and having the courage to experiment a little.

In this role called motherhood,

we are all everyday scientists—

testing, adjusting, learning—

until love and wisdom both grow gentler,

and stronger, together.

From Giggles to Tears: My Baby Wasn’t Sad — He Was Just Too Full of Love 💕

📖 Lately, I’ve noticed that my five-month-old baby loves it when I read to him.
He watches my face, smiling as if I’m telling the funniest story in the world.
I smile back, reading with all the tones and rhythms I can muster.
His little hands wave in the air, and I can’t help but think—this moment is perfect.

But then, something changes.
Right after all that laughter, his smile slowly fades.
He keeps staring at my face—so focused, so still—and then, suddenly, he starts to cry.
Not a small whimper, but a deep, emotional cry.
I pause, close the book.
And just like that, when I stop reading, he calms down again.

It happened twice.

👀 I began to wonder—why?
Was my voice too loud? Was the story too long?
I looked it up and even chatted with ChatGPT about it for a while.

It turns out, sometimes babies experience emotional overflow.
They can’t yet distinguish between being “too happy” and “too excited.”
When joy or connection fills them up too quickly,
their little bodies don’t quite know how to hold it all—
so they cry.

It isn’t fear. It isn’t discomfort.
It’s love that’s simply too much to contain.

I realized he might not be crying because he’s sad—
but because the moment feels so full,
so deep,
so overwhelmingly connected.

💞 I gently hold him and whisper, “Mama’s here.”
His eyes soften again, as if confirming that he’s safe,
and he melts quietly into my arms.

From giggles to tears, then back to calm—
this little moment taught me that
babies don’t just need stories;
they need to feel held inside the story.

🌿 And maybe,
this is where our shared learning about love and emotions truly begins.

🤍 That night, I sent my question to ChatGPT.
We talked about it—two parenting partners thinking side by side.
AI didn’t replace my intuition as a mom,
but it helped me understand the language of emotions more deeply.

In learning to hold my baby’s feelings,
I found myself held by them too.
And in that shared overflow of love,
I felt an indescribable happiness. 💫

After My Mom Left

My greatest reinforcement—Mom—has flown back to Taiwan. The house suddenly feels quieter, filled only with the clinking of bottles and my baby’s occasional coos. Now I’m on my own, managing both the household and childcare, living in a constant state of alert. My brain feels like it has twenty tabs open at once—feeding, cleaning, cooking, soothing.Yet in the middle of all this beautiful chaos, I still want to record this week of life.

Day 1A family friend came to visit and helped me put the baby down for a nap.He cried for almost an hour before finally falling asleep. When the house grew silent again, I felt tears welling up—part exhaustion, part tenderness that motherhood quietly carves out of you.

Day 2The baby sat quietly in his chair, and I wondered why he wasn’t babbling as usual. When I picked him up, I discovered the reason—poop everywhere. On his pants, the seat, and a good portion of the floor. We ended up doing a full house clean-up.That day’s victory was simple: everything got washed, and I still managed to laugh.

Day 3After a rough night with little sleep for anyone,I decided to start taking him on two walks a day—one in the morning and one at dusk. The morning air was crisp; the evening light, soft and golden.Pushing the stroller through our neighborhood, I felt like I’d regained a tiny piece of freedom—and in return, he gifted me more smiles.

Day 4For the first time, I managed to put him to sleep quickly with a bottle. He napped on my chest for two hours, and by the time he woke up, my body was stiff and my back aching so badly I had to put on a pain patch.Still, I smiled—because loving this little person makes even the aches feel worthwhile.

Day 5The baby has learned to sit patiently in his little chair, waiting by the kitchen doorway while I finish cooking. That quiet moment felt like a milestone—he’s learning to wait, and I’m learning to slow down.

This week, I’ve been tired, messy, and sometimes on the verge of tears—but I’ve also

rediscovered my own strength.Life isn’t as organized as it used to be,yet it’s full of laughter, small victories, and the warmth of tiny arms around my neck.

At night, I still miss the sound of my mom cooking in the kitchen, but I know she didn’t just leave her help behind—she left her faith in me.

Her leaving wasn’t an end,but the quiet beginning of my own strength.

First Overnight Trip with Baby

👶🏻Baby’s First Overnight Trip

Our first little trip took us to Houston—
not for sightseeing, but to send family off at the international airport for their flight back to Taiwan.

Two weeks before the trip, I started making lists and shopping online.
Just the travel crib alone filled an entire suitcase.
Feeding took me a whole week to figure out, and in the end, I decided to bring everything: ready-to-feed milk, formula, and the pump—packed into two full bags, like a tiny home on the move.

The three-hour drive went smoothly. Our baby slept peacefully the whole way.
That night in the hotel, the air conditioner blew straight toward his crib, and I kept getting up just to check if he was too cold.

On the way back, he began to fuss during the last hour.
As dusk settled, we worried the crying might distract from driving, so we turned on a musical toy to soothe him—
tense, but in quiet teamwork.

The funny thing is, he didn’t really enjoy the new place or the change of scenery at all.
For him, unfamiliar air, a different bed, and new sounds couldn’t compare to the comfort of home.

The moment we parked in our garage, he stopped crying right away, his face softening into calm.
And for two parents who barely slept and drove eight hours round trip,
we felt exactly the same—
there’s truly no place like home.

A Heart-Racing Moment: Baby vs. Dog at the Door!

“The English version is below”

Today, I opened the door to grab a package, just as our neighbor let their dog out to play in the yard. The sunlight slanted across the lawn, and the grass still held the dew from last night.

I only meant to reach for the package, but I caught a flash in the dog’s eyes—then, in the next second, he bolted straight toward our doorstep!
My heart jumped to my throat, and a thousand little scenarios raced through my mind like a movie: What if he runs inside? What if he bites? What if the baby gets hurt?

I didn’t even have time to put on shoes. I scooped up the baby and slammed the door shut. The air inside the house felt frozen. The baby snuggled against my shoulder, as if sensing my tension. I took a deep breath and peeked through the slats of the blinds.

The dog prowled the porch, sniffing everywhere, even sitting down to bask in the sun, as if to say, “I was just passing by!” My panic slowly melted into a mix of concern and amusement.

Half an hour later, the yard finally grew quiet. There was no sign of him outside, and I cautiously stepped out with the baby to retrieve my flip-flop left on the grass. The tips of the blades were still wet with dew, cool under my feet. Sunlight warmed us, and the dog was gone, leaving only calm—and a slowly settling heartbeat.

Back inside, I sat by the window with the baby, watching the “terrifying” moment turn into a little joke in my mind. The baby giggled, as if saying, “Mom, you’re overreacting!” I laughed too, feeling that life is made up of these small adventures and tender moments.

When we eat, my husband and I usually place our phones on our right side.
It’s convenient for checking messages, looking something up, or quickly searching during a conversation.
Our baby often sits or lies next to us,
and besides gazing at us with deep affection,
he’s just as focused on the phones.
The bright screen, swiping fingers, and flickering images
completely capture his attention.
Sometimes, when I hold him on my lap and scroll the screen,
his eyes follow every light and movement.
Since I started managing multiple social media platforms,
my dependence on my phone seems stronger.
It’s not just part of my work—
it’s a bridge connecting me to the world.
Yet sometimes I wonder,
what kind of mom does my baby see when I’m glued to the screen?
I suddenly realize
that perhaps our everyday, unconscious actions
are slowly shaping his curiosity about the world.
So this morning, I suggested to my husband,
“Why don’t we put our phones on the side table during meals?”
He thought for a moment and smiled,
“Then let’s put them in the ‘phone airport.’”
He casually took out the wooden box we used for wedding pastries
and gently placed the two phones inside.
At that moment, the air at the table suddenly felt lighter.
No glowing screens,
no vibrating notifications.
I looked down at my plate and noticed the kiwi—
its core was shaped like a heart.
A bite of apple, juicy and slightly tart,
brought a sensation of reality I hadn’t felt in a long time.
After lifting my eyes from the screen,
my mind seemed to relax.
With no distractions constantly at hand,
I realized it had been a long time since I really noticed our home’s details—
the pendant light we picked at our wedding, the framed pictures on the wall,
and the small plant on the dining table that’s a little dry but still growing.
I also realized—
my dry mouth was simply because I hadn’t had a sip of water since getting up this morning.
After putting our phones in the box,
we reopened the picture of our daily life.
It included the scent of fruit,
our child’s laughter,
and the long-missed eye contact between my husband and me.
This small habit we’re cultivating now
is not only to make mealtime calmer,
but also to consciously shape our family’s warmth and focus.
I hope that one day,
our child will grow up curious about the food on the table,
interested in the people around him,
rather than smiling only at the flickering light of a screen.
📦 The “phone airport” is not just a resting place for our devices—it’s a way for us to reconnect with life.
