🎉 Celebrating 10 Years of Design!

This fall marks ten years since I took a leap of faith, left my dental career behind, and turned my lifelong love of design into a full-time business. It has been an incredible journey filled with creativity, color, and the most wonderful clients who have welcomed me into their homes.

To celebrate, I am sharing one of my favorite recent projects, a 1980s family room that went from dark and dated to bright and modern. This transformation captures exactly why I love what I do.

✨ Take a look at the before and after story on my blog: https://www.take2artworks.com/blog/2025/10/30/vdlibzd4qi36fis5k2a9iaklsuld9g

Thank you for being part of this journey. Here is to the next decade of beautiful spaces and happy homes.

See how Judi transformed a dark 1980s family room into a bright, modern space with custom painting, fresh colors, and thoughtful design updates.

Who says you can't paint brick?
This lovely Albany home just got a major facelift with Phase I of helping this homeowner bring her coastal-inspired vision to life. The freshly painted brick has already made a huge impact, and she’s been getting compliments from neighbors nonstop! Custom painting projects like this one, where we reimagine the potential of a home, are what I love most.

What a project! I had the opportunity to design and handpaint a 3,000 sq ft exhibit for Home Earth Alliance at the Region Flower & Garden Expo at Hudson Valley Community College.

The display features two large brownstones (including a 16' high replica of Albany’s historic Myer Home), a colonial home representing a suburban setting, and a cheerful bodega inspired by The Hungry Caterpillar — all designed to show how native landscaping can be integrated into any neighborhood.

It was a big undertaking and a great way to showcase my specialty painting and design work. I’m so grateful to my husband Doug for his carpentry help, our daughter Karli (also an artist), and the amazing volunteers from HVCC, Home Earth Alliance, and the Garden Show — plus several dear friends who rolled up their sleeves to help make it all happen.

The show runs through Sunday — stop by the Home Earth Alliance section and check it out!

Spring is a season of renewal, and there's no better demonstration than the stunning transformation of Matt and Ann-Marie's 1950s kitchen in Troy, NY! With careful attention to their unique stories and needs, we turned their once-dated space into the vibrant heart of their home—a modern yet timeless kitchen perfect for family breakfasts and lively dinner parties.

As Ann-Marie puts it, "Judi didn’t just renovate our kitchen; she transformed our daily lives." Now, their central island is not just a fixture, but the gathering spot where they share meals and enjoy views of their beautiful garden.

Are you ready to bring new life to your home? Let’s create a space that truly reflects your personality and lifestyle. Contact me, Judi, to start your transformation journey. Call 518-495-4317.

After raising her children, Lori found herself ready for a fresh start in Castleton, NY, a familiar neighborhood that held cherished memories. She discovered a charming two-bedroom ranch, envisioning it as her forever home—a place where she could indulge her tastes and desires without compromise.

As a work-from-home professional, Lori sought to create an environment tailored to her unique needs and preferences. She reached out to me to bring her vision to life. I brought my dedicated team—Bob, the contractor, and Lauren from MKC Kitchen Cabinets so that together, we could all focus on what we each do best. Lori had a keen eye for color but needed our expertise to seamlessly blend her ideas into a cohesive design.

I began by developing a detailed Design Plan, addressing flooring, cabinets, countertops, and backsplash.

Although the project faced challenges, like awkward sightlines caused by hanging cabinets over the peninsula, we remained practical and focused on maximizing the space. We replaced old linoleum and carpeting with vinyl wood plank flooring, which visually expanded the area and provided a consistent flow. To further open up the space, we removed the upper hanging cabinets and repurposed them against an open wall.

The cozy peninsula now accommodates seating for three, is adorned with beautiful pendant lighting, and encourages lively conversations in the inviting breakfast room.

I painted the kitchen cabinets using a special technique for lasting durability, featuring green lower cabinets and white upper cabinets.

This inspiring transformation symbolizes Lori's bold journey, celebrating her independence and self-expression. It has been a privilege to help Lori create a home that truly reflects her spirit and serves as a sanctuary for her new beginning.

I'm all about preserving what you already have. So when Jackie told me she wanted to update the kitchen in her 1920s era home in Albany without tearing everything out, I jumped at the opportunity. Jackie and her husband were wonderful to work with and I'm thrilled to know this wonderful family will be enjoying their new kitchen for years to come.

Next up, we're updating the fireplace in their living room. I hope you enjoy watching this transformation!

Here's a blog post that includes more photos. https://www.take2artworks.com/blog/albany-ny-kitchen-renovation

Occasionally, when I'm not painting kitchen cabinets or working on interior design projects with clients, I squeeze in custom murals like this one that a client requested for the wall of her indoor pool. Can you imagine having an indoor pool? So fun!
