Well, the give to others holidays are gone, so it's finally time to buy for ourselves! Here's some treats you didn't get for Christmas: A chicken nester! long or tall, you decide ($195). A Victorian hand-painted twin bed ($48). A 1940 Ford Deluxe Grill ($398). A rusty Coca-Cola sign from the 1930s that's been tacked to a backing board ($245) and finally a little tin Cigarette sign that somebody cut in half in the far away times when it wasn't valuable! ($98). Hope y'all had great holidays and are back in the mood for some serious "I WANT THAT FOR MYSELF!" shopping.

OK, the New Year is coming up which means there will be a whole year's worth of old stuff that will soon qualify as antiques! Here's a few of them we've just added to the family at Maine Barn & Attic: An old doctor's cabinet and stool in steel ($425), an oak jewelers or watchmaker's workbench ($495), an old hose reel in blue paint, a little one-drawer pine stand ($115) and lastly a wrought iron plant or candle holder sconce ($195). Plus every Saturday morning we add a truck load of little things. If we don't see you tomorrow, Happy New Year! May it bring you lots of old friends.

Hi Folks, Just a few pictures of items coming into the store this Saturday. That's a cast iron mortar & pestle, the heaviest we've ever had. So if you know a pharmacist . . . An oak church pew with a slight curve to it, about 4' long, and it's $295.00. A green metal work cabinet with drawer bottoms made of old signs, $150. A steel forge with blower that works fine, $245.00. And a primitive 4-drawer chest that's only $95.00. And a whole bunch of European encaustic floor tiles, old as the continent, that are $10 and less each. Plus the usual 10-15 boxes of smalls that comes in every Saturday morning at 10. And one last reminder, we have Gift Certificates! Merry Christmas, Everybody!

Hi Folks, What you've missed if you haven't been into Maine Barn & Attic Antiques lately: a new giant truckload in September, and now Isabelle and I are back with another truckload, which we put into the store a pickup truck load at a time every Saturday morning at 10 am. The photos are just a few big things that came in during the last two weeks: a big American oak filing cabinet, a green Art Deco Cabinet that used to be a Juke Box, Victorian dress form, and a shabby chic primitive cabinet that is upside down in my photo. But you can use it either way. If you turn it over you have to screw it to the wall. Several people carved their initials into it, as if it were a cave or prison wall or a pyramid. Plus theres hundreds and hundreds of new small things. Hope you all had a fine Thanksgiving. I am two pounds heavier this morning. It's ok. I'll lose it Saturday. I usually walk six miles inside the store on Saturdays. Come lose some weight with me!

Happy New Year dear Friends! Let me ask you a personal question: do you have a Cigar Store Indian? I don't either. But if you know someone who does, we have a Cigar Store Indian Pedestal. I'll bet they're rarer than the Native Americans! We're bringing in new things every Saturday, and we've got heat this winter, so come visit!

Hi Folks, the new fall load has been in the store for about 4 weeks now, so that means it's time to start adding more stuff! We're just back from Maine and will begin adding 8-10 new boxes of merchandise this and every Saturday through the winter. Every once in a while we'll throw in a stick of furniture as well. It's good to be home! Below is a couple of photos of our summer project in Maine, a new old garage that matches the town's Victorian architecture. We'll use it to hold antiques till we bring them to Texas.

It's Spring, and even the Antiques are fresh at Maine Barn and Attic: leading off the photos below is a really early gateleg table that has a beautiful finish and weighs a ton. It's probably right at 200 years old. Then a tall bookcase in old turquoise paint and scraps of old wallpaper. Followed by a cast iron International Order of Oddfellows Sign, a working key-making machine and some spare key blanks, a big early camera and a pile of old tools and smalls. We'll be there too, wading through it all tomorrow from 10-6. I only check my page when I'm sad, and I'm rarely that, so don't ask me questions, just come on down.

Hi Folks! The storm blew a squirrel into our building. That was a wild chase, but we got him out, even though he cursed at us the whole way. For this Saturday we have a full-size dime slot machine, working, that pays out 200 dimes, but which will cost you $975.00! Wow, somebody is going to have to play a lot of slots to justify that purchase. And an old blue-paint wagon seat, a tricycle that would be hard on the bum, a bunch of interior shutters, a set of 24 big school maps, and finally the usual pile of small things. Other stuff, too, that I forgot to photograph while chasing the squirrel. These pictures are a lot less blurry than I would have thought.

Forgot to mention that last photo: a huge 4-sided street light. It can mount on a post or hang from a wire. Someone set it up so you can turn on each set of lights: red, yellow or green. The visors for the lights are on the table behind it.

Well it's cold again but tomorrow it will be warm and dry inside good ol' Maine Barn & Attic. Here's a few photos of new items this week: an old pine kitchen or store counter with big deep drawers, an insanely intricate piece of crest carving, an old door with lots of automotive stickers, a yaller "Bart's Restaurant" Sign in two pieces (if you don't like Bart), and a steel whatsit piece of furniture--perhaps an ice cream serving stand? Somebody made a top for it if you want to use it for your office credenza . . . and there will also be the usual pile of smalls. And Amber and Makala and Isabelle and Ely and Tommy will all probably be smiling at everybody again, like they do every Saturday. Jeesh.

What's great about Saturdays? Maine Barn is finally open again! Here's some new things to look at: a big walnut Victorian bookcase (which we desperately need at the store to display small stuff--please don't buy it!), a sheet iron rooster weathervane, an honest to goodness train bell (it weighs a ton), and the usual pile of smalls we'll start hiding in the store tomorrow morning. I hope you have a great Saturday, whether it's here or there!
