My 300 Sq Ft Life is taking shape.
What this space does have is height. So I decided to concentrate on the positive.
To me, height is real estate! Useable space.
Since the counter tops are so small, I thought the folding lap table could be good for height.
Wrong, the counter are too small, and the stove, and the refrigerator. So, no space would hold the lap table. I folded it up and leaned it in the corner.
I need my “Power Up Station”. That’s where the magic happens. But with small counters and not a lot of storage, I wasn’t sure how this was going to happen. Then I remembered this cool antique wooden 2 tier file holder we have had for a long time. We actually have a few of them so I grabbed one. It’s perfect. The top hold my electric water kettle, French press, joosher. And the bottom holds my teas, ketones and other magic elements I use to make my powered coffee! Ghee, MCT oil, collagen, mushrooms and cinnamon. Coffee is purposeful to me.
I brought a natural wood board I took from the dumpster at a local home improvement store that fits perfectly in top of the apartment size refrigerator. I then put a bamboo folding lap table on top of the board for more space to store things.
Plus, I want this space to have natural wood elements. Bringing nature inside.
I brought a nice size basket with handles and rolled blankets, towels and extra fabric up to tuck away in an organized manner. Then I draped the extra blankes over this cute little ladder.
I like how there is space above the cabinets to put homey elements. I love the China pattern Blue Willow. My mother helped me collect this pattern from the grocery store before she passed away in July 2000. I treasure each piece. This particular pattern is by Churchill but I love anything Blue Willow. I even have a Blue Willow blanket rolled up in that basket.
I have a small wooden Pier One 3 shelf unit that fits perfectly in the bathroom. I plan to add 2 or 3 additional tension rods above the shower that will make great storage too. More on that later.
I taped off the area for the dimensions of the sofa I fell in love with. It will dominate the space but it will offer much needed seating, storage and extra sleeping area.
I tapes painter’s tape on the wall to designate 5 feet 6 feet and 7 feet heights. These are the heights of most loft beds. I have been looking around for the one that will fit the space best.
I will buy the couch first, live with that for a while and see if the loft is necessary.
This is my happy space!
