Fall just landed in the shop 🍂

We walked through the storefront this week and had to stop and take it all in. New textures, warmer tones, all the little touches that make a space feel like autumn. Every piece was hand-picked, and once it's gone, it's gone (we don't restock the same pieces twice).

Team Spotlight: Meet Carolyn

You may never see Carolyn on a project site, but you've felt her work in every room we finish. As our Office Administrator and Order Management lead, she's the one making sure every material, every piece, every detail arrives on time and in order. The quiet engine behind designs that come together seamlessly. 🤍

For a year and a half, Carolyn's detail-oriented magic has kept our designers supported and our projects on track. And when she's off the clock? She's tending the yard she's so proud of. Beds full of flowers, and a new little vegetable garden she's growing alongside her five-year-old grandson. 🌱

Married with two daughters, four grandchildren, and a full, joyful family, Carolyn spends her free time camping in some of her favorite spots like Paso Robles, Pismo, Palm Desert. And Bakersfield? It's home. 42 years of it. The place she raised her kids and still calls perfect for a family.

We're so grateful for everything Carolyn holds together behind the scenes. 🤍

When we design a dining space, we're not just thinking about what looks beautiful in photos. We're thinking about who's going to sit there and what it will feel like to gather around it, year after year.

That's the kind of design that matters most to us. Not just a room. A place where life happens.

Meet Marianne three years with us (and celebrating four this October! 🎉) and one of the people quietly making sure everything around here runs beautifully. 🤍

Marianne is Kelly and Dawnielle's design assistant here at our Bakersfield branch, which is really just a tidy way of saying she has a hand in a little bit of everything. From her early days in order management to the work she does now, she's the person who helps keep projects moving and the one who lights up when she gets to build a floor plan and watch her work shape the final result. Her favorite part is seeing the difference she makes on a project.

But there's a whole world behind Marianne, too. She's a musician. The real deal. She fronted her own project in Portland from 2016 to 2018, playing rhythm guitar and leading it all. Her sound has drifted over the years from hazy, lo-fi, vaporwave textures into something dreamier and more synth-driven. Music is in her blood: her father was a well-known musician back in the Soviet Union.

Art runs just as deep. Her grandfather was a celebrated painter in Ukraine, the root of her own love for landscape painting, which she pours herself into in her free time. And when she's not making art or music, she's in the kitchen making the dishes she grew up with. Borscht is at the top of the list. 🥘

What she loves about Bakersfield? The charm you just don't find in bigger cities. To Marianne, the connections here feel genuine and real, a true melting pot where people share their stories, their styles, and watch it all come together.

Marianne, thank you for three incredible years, we can't wait to celebrate four. 🩵
