Back in Bakersfield we gave a new lease on life to a tired ranch style home. The task at hand: keep it traditional and blend passed down pieces so it feels cohesive, intentional and updated.

We ended up taking 85% of the house down to the studs to get the most out of an outdated floor plan. We were able to open the dining room up to the living room, add a powder room and carve out a proper entry.

We have just not talked enough about our little ranch house because how we got from A to B should truly be studied.

We took a very tricky floor plan -- became magicians-- and turned a funky-dunk kitchen into a reworked kitchen + butlers pantry + mud + laundry. All done without changing the current footprint.

White blindness no more ! For this newly purchased home we had to make quick work of erasing the Redfin special (aka neutralize and white out everything) to pave way for a more personal and inviting set of bathrooms.

The thing about me is, I've got a thing for the West. Im talking cowboys, horses, worn levi overalls and dust covered stetson hats. Blame it on my Bakersfield roots, rodeo riding Dad and cattle wrangling Brother. Naturally, I've collected western nods and sprinkled throughout my house -- because a home should reflect you and not the algorithm du jour.

A basement that escaped the after thought. Cozy and brimming with personal touches including framed collected motown records, original art from Bakersfield local Ali Vaughan and a bespoke sofa dreamed up and designed by Studio HFD.
