To all my valued friends and clients of many years, I have always tried to give you the best advice and guidance possible when working with you on your Window Treatment, Furniture, & Design needs. Probably the best piece of advice is always search out the very best quality you can. This never changes, great fabrics, best construction and quality finishing are key. Here are some tips for knowing if you are looking at high quality furniture.

Avoid upholstered furniture that is shaky or squeaky. Look at and feel the finish on the exposed wood parts. The surface should be smooth, attractive and free of blemishes. Springs provide upholstered furniture with an added measure of “give” and bounce, check for eight-way-hand-tied springs. That will ensure your furniture will sit and wear evenly.

 How a piece of furniture is made is an obvious indication of the quality. For example- if a dresser or table is made with dovetail, mortise & tenon, or doweled joints it’s a superior product to something that is held together with staples, glue, or finishing nails. Are the drawers easy to use, smooth gliding, or soft close? That’s another great attribute!

Finally, deal with a reputable company that will be there to provide service it there is issue in the future, and if it seems to good to be true…it is, keep on walking.
