MD Architectural Rescue

MD Architectural Rescue Documenting the Obsession of a Junk Minded Idiot With a Great Eye for Design and a Knack for Sniffin It couldn't have been more true.

When I was a kid, my mom said "When you grow up you're going to be a JUNK MAN." I started as a savior to the mantles and doors that were being ripped out of Baltimore town homes and thrown into the dumpster and I have grown that passion into a monster of a business. Now, with my company MD Architectural Rescue, I hope to sensibly preserve and recycle history, salvaging classic furniture, industria

l materials and curiosities directly from sites facing demolition. If you're interested in our junk, you could always come visit us at our warehouse, which is an old trolley repair facility near the Baltimore Zoo. Typically the warehouse is open on Saturdays, but we are occasionally open on other days and by appointment. We also sell smaller objects on our two Ebay accounts (architecturalrescue and MDindustrialsalvage). With this page we hope to draw your attention to the oddities we've been digging up and hopefully entice you into taking home your very own piece of history.

Maybe I will see some of your NEXT Saturday for the actual Second Saturday of the month. Sorry about the confusion.

It seems surreal in a way. I"m ALMOST settled in after moving my office from Millersville to the warehouse. It was a 3 week blur . Now I just have an even Bigger pile of history to deal with. I can't believe the stuff we were finding stretching back 15 years. Signs and artifacts from Bethlehem Steel, Bank bags and bar pans from Hershey, porcelain glove molds from Playtex. Advertising displays and signs from RJ Loock. Forgotten furniture from Norristown State Hospital. Of course ..................... most of it is buried in a sea of pallets crammed in the back but I am unraveling a little more each day. I'll try to have some of the cooler stuff accessible by Saturday , which is our SECOND SATURDAY OPEN HOUSE. Saturday May 9th from 10 until 3.

We are located at the Baltimore Traction Company, 2480 Druid Hill ave , just South of the park.

We Hope to See Y'all!

I have been so busy preparing the space for my upcoming move that I literally forgot what day it was. The month just FLEW by but it has been good nonetheless . I am sitting in the mountains of North Central PA 4 1/2 hours from home getting ready for my last load of stuff tomorrow. I have been getting alot of stuff but its just PILED up at the moment at the warehouse. I am going to do my best to get it pulled out Friday after we unload the truck we fill tomorrow. WHich brings me to ...........

Everyone is cordially invited to our Second Saturday Open House this coming Saturday April 11th from 10 until 3.

Getting old is funny and NOT funny at the same time. The folks at BALTIMORE MAGAZINE were nice enough to come out to check out the warehouse and did an Awesome article on me for the March 26 restaurant issue. The FUNNY thing is .................... I have tried to share the article to Facebook 20 different times to no avail. I think that computers are against me or something. Feel free to check out the current March issue if you would like to see the write up. ( I hear they even quoted my Profanity) Even BETTER would be if one of you computer Geniuses could share it to my feed. The Not so funny part of getting old is how asking something like that makes you feel stupid. I guess I'm used to it.

On the bright side, I have been working hard at a duPont research facility in Wilmington and a Foundry in North Central PA near the New York line (where I am currently writhing this). I'm finding some pretty cool stuff and will be loading a truck tomorrow to get ready for Saturday ...................... which reminds me

You are ALL invited to our Second Saturday Open House this coming Saturday March 14th from 10 AM till 3 PM. I hope to see y'all.

The photos are of ssome items that will be at the shop and some stuff that will be coming within the next couple of weeks when I am able to transport. It will give you an idea of the flavor I am running across though

This damned weather is KILLING me. Not literally but it just drains the soul from you. I was stuck in my own driveway for almost 3 days without traction until I had crews come in and dig me out with bobcats since the tow trucks proved worthless. Water is still frozen tight at the warehouse. I JUST got to the point that I'm going up there to work now that the weather has finally broken. Long sotry short ............

There is NO OPEN HOUSE THIS MONTH!

In between all of my whining, I have been getting realy cool stuff from a foundry in Northern PA and have some other interesting things in the works. I'll just show them all to you guys in March.

Sorry!

Stay Warm!
