Art as life allows it by Rick Hanscom
About the Artist
Art as life allows it
Reality to me has always been suggestive.
I have found if you can find a way to feel anything besides what is right in front of you, you could live in a dream. Art has been a way of doing this for me.
When I paint, I no longer exist in this world. Being completely consumed by what I am creating, I lose touch with everything else around me.
Emotions now only exist in their rawest form. My name is Richard Hanscom. I was born in New Hampshire and have also been to a few other places in the United States, but Maine is where I have spent most of my life and in many ways will always be my home.
Painting is something I found later on in my life. I never knew just how much I would fall in love with it. There are several things I use to paint on: glass, panel board, canvas, and canvas panel. They all have their differences that I use as a way to create.
Oil paint is what I primarily choose to use on these mediums.
Penwork is something else I have fallen for. It brings out another side of me I pursue just as intently.
Growing up for me was a bit chaotic, never thinking of art until much later in my life. I think I found it exactly when I needed to. It is something that helps me so much in so many ways, and it is my honor to share that with all of you.
