Pins have been around forever.....but Wonder Clips have earned a permanent spot in a lot of sewing rooms.

They're great for thicker layers, binding, bags, and anywhere pins just don't want to cooperate.

The good news?

You don't have to pick one or the other. Most quilters end up using both depending on the project.

There’s still time to join our 2026 Patriotic Quilt Challenge!

Start with this year’s challenge fabric, make it your own, and create a throw-size quilt top that will eventually become something pretty special. ❤️

Once your quilt top is complete, we’ll provide the backing and batting, quilt it, and have it bound.

In November, the finished quilts will be displayed together in the Lyon Gallery at the Community Center before being donated to veterans in our area.

Quilt tops are due by the end of September!

Back to Sewing School: Lesson 3

When you're choosing a quilting ruler, don't just grab the first one you see.

Take a look at the markings. Can you quickly find the measurement you need? Are the lines easy for you to follow?

Then think about color. A ruler that's easy to read on one fabric might be much harder to see on another.

You're going to reach for your rulers over and over again, so finding one that's comfortable for your eyes can make cutting a whole lot easier.

Your cutting mat does more than protect your table.

A good self-healing mat helps your rotary blade last longer, protects your cutting surface, and gives you the accuracy you need for clean cuts.

One tip that surprises a lot of quilters?

Rotate your mat regularly instead of always cutting in the same spot. It helps your mat wear more evenly and keeps it in great shape longer.

Sometimes it's the tools working behind the scenes that make the biggest difference.
