Quick thanks to the people who actually make this work.

As summer winds down and a busy fall comes into view, a real thank you is due. The install crew that shows up at 7:30, drinks too much coffee, and treats every house like their own. The folks at the showroom who pick up the phone and find the right sample for the room your're picturing. Leon Pulskamp who built this place to last, and Bob & Cindy who are proud to carry his legacy forward.

The best phone calls we get usually start with bad news.

A family called us last year. They'd hired a different flooring company a few months earlier, and the new floor was already failing. Seams lifting. Planks popping out at the edges. The original contractor was harder to reach every week.

They'd heard about us from a sibling who'd worked with Bob the year before. We met them at their house, looked at what was there, and put together a plan to replace the failed product with luxury vinyl plank rated for pets and kids. Bob picked the color with them in their dining room, curtains open, all the morning light. They took samples home over the weekend and called Monday.

The new floor went in over four days. Last we checked, it still looks the way it did the day we left.

Did you know what goes UNDER your floor matters just as much as the floor itself? 🤯

Underlayment is the thin layer installed between your subfloor and your finished flooring, and it does a lot of work you never see.

🔇 It reduces sound transmission between floors, which matters a lot in two-story homes.

🌡️ It adds a layer of thermal insulation, making floors feel warmer underfoot in cooler months.

🦶 It creates a softer, more comfortable feel underfoot, especially with hard surface flooring.

Skipping or cutting corners on underlayment is one of the most common ways a flooring project ends up feeling "off" after installation.

Two flooring words that sound the same. They're not.

Water-resistant means the floor can handle the occasional spill if you wipe it up reasonably fast.

Waterproof means the floor can sit in a puddle for a while and not change. The plank doesn't swell and the seams don't lift.

For kitchens, bathrooms, basements, mudrooms, and homes with pets, waterproof is almost always worth the upgrade. For bedrooms and offices, water-resistant is usually fine.

Once Fall hits and the kids are tracking in mud and rain from the bus-stop, a waterproof floor by the entryway becomes a must-have.
