Today is a special day in the history of Laurence Smith Window & Door.
Twenty years ago, Tracey and Bill Ruff became just the third owners in our company's 87-year history. Looking back, we're reminded that while ownership may change over time, the values that built this company continue to endure.
This year also marks another incredible milestone—50 years of partnership with Marvin Windows and Doors. That relationship has been built on shared values, quality craftsmanship, and a commitment to serving our customers with excellence.
When the Ruff family purchased the business in 2006, Laurence Smith was a team of fewer than 10 employees. Today, nearly 60 dedicated team members proudly serve builders, architects, designers, contractors, and homeowners throughout Michigan.
While we've grown tremendously over the past two decades, one thing has never changed:

This morning, our team surprised Bill and Tracey with a cleverly coordinated and celebrated start to the day. It’s been a "Ruff" 20 years - a fitting tribute that even included their four-legged office companion, who has become part of the Laurence Smith family.
It was a reminder that Laurence Smith has always been about more than windows and doors.
It's about people.
