Thanks to Downtown Bedford Inc for selecting me to replace the sheer draperies in the office, here is before and after pictures! The sheer had gotten so thin, Lindsay had a terrible glare on her computer screen! No shame for them, since Roy had made them in 1971! When Juli Gonsman first became manager, she asked me to repair them. So I washed them and replaced almost all the stitching as it had dry rotted then. When folks say I’m expensive, it’s because you get quality draperies that last and this is proof. The new fabric is a heavier sheer to block the glare. Each window has 10 yards of fabric made into panels. Stop in to the office and see for yourself.

Happy Fall Y’all! Yesterday we celebrated 34 years in business! Thanks to all the valued customers who became friends! To all who had confidence and encouraged us that we could do the job! To the window shoppers who enjoyed the many window displays! While no official date for closing has been decided, we are cutting back on hours. The memories we made along the way are priceless! It’s been a labor of love!

Adding a mirror to a room makes it appear larger. First time asked to treat it like a window, looks spectacular! Customer wanted a short treatment on the door that would look good with the other swag and jabots. So got creative, breaking rules and made this! It’s short enough not to flop when door is used and cute enough to match the other windows! Customer was delighted!

Businesses were asked to decorate windows to celebrate the anniversary of Bedford County Fair! Our daughters were both fortunate to have been part of Bedford County 4H and showed sheep and one pig! Their experiences, lessons learned, and friends made helped make them the successful adults they became! Please come out to support the fair and witness the impact this event has on our community and today’s youth who become tomorrow’s leaders!

A customer asked me to stop by to look at this chair she wanted reupholstered and she wanted to use three different fabrics. I said it didn’t look too difficult and I was willing to see what my crafting talents could do. Well, looks are deceiving because underneath was a beautiful gem waiting for the challenge! Originally the tufting made this chair and told that to the owner. I had tufted a chair previously, but as seen in one photo the foam had gone to dust and needed to be replaced. Foam replacement for tufting is more difficult and requires more planning. After much research from YouTube, I was able to tuft the back. We had planned on a skirt at the bottom but the wood was too beautiful to cover, so our plans changed again. The bolster pillow was an afterthought to show more of the plaid fabric and balance things out and that was the icing on the cake! Customer was delighted with the outcome of a $2.00 chair from an auction!

Had the pleasure of sharing my business story this morning with Mrs. Michelle Fisher’s BHS Entrepreneur Class. They asked many pertinent questions and seemed intrigued by the process of making draperies!
Very polite group of young people!

This was the last install for the year! I always figure help for any difficult job is just a phone call away, but this was perhaps my ultimate challenge!
Customer said she knew I could figure it out and wasn’t going to accept me saying no to her.
The two side windows were completed and installed to appease the customer and buy some time to figure the large arched window. I researched the internet to no avail. So I reached out to two workroom friends for advice, first one said, “Walk away from this one!” Second friend in Pittsburgh said,
“You can do it!” and faxed me some info, brief but helpful.
I knew to start with a template and measurements of the window in order to make the frame for the swags and jabots. With divine help things came together and the result was worth the wait! So here are before and after pictures. And yes customer was thrilled, and I was relieved!
