Let's talk about buying Tips! So so many people are disappointed when they get their packages especially after waiting for weeks only to find what they got doesn't meet their expectations. So let's talk about how to buy diamond painting kits.

First let's talk about key differences in the kits and what they are called.

1. Partial kits
A partial kit means that you only fill in a portion of the design with diamonds. These tend to be less expensive and are not always marked as partial. A good rule of thumb is to make sure you see an actual photo of the canvas in the listing to ensure what you are getting. Partials are great for kids and beginners and for people who simply want to finish quickly.

2. Full Drill (coverage) kits
A full drill (drills are another word for diamonds) kit means that the entire canvas is filled in with diamonds. These kits cost more and again, looking for the actual photo of the canvas to ensure you are getting full drill is key. If you see the words Full Diamond in the listing - this does not always mean they are full drill.

3. Size Matters
Size definitely matters when it comes to the finished result. The diamonds/drills are always the same size - when we talk about size, it's the size of the design or picture area. This can be confusing as many sellers list the canvas size in their listings. It's important to note that there is always some amount of white space around the design so the canvas is going to be bigger than the picture. We've attached a photo that shows the difference. If you are looking for something that shows good detail you should look for kits that are at least 12x16" or bigger. Again, these cost more but the finished result is going to be much better.

4. Round or Square Drills
This is largely a matter of taste with some people reporting that the round drill kits are easier as you don't have to worry about the drills being straight as you apply them. I have found that the squares line up straight as the design gets filled in. You may find that listings are confusing, with pictures of both types of drills or they describe the drills as both round and square. If you care about which type and the listing is confusing, we suggest moving on to a listing where it's clear what you are getting.
