This is excellent information about how to prepare your backing for your longarmer!
The machine and the carriage that the machine moves on requires at least 4” extra on EVERY side of the backing.
If your quilt is 60x60 make your backing at least 68x68
Now when I say at least I really don’t want 20” extra all the way around - that causes issues too! When you have to much backing then the sides are loosy goosy and they don’t roll as smoothly as the area where your quilt top and batting are.
Not really super picky but every thing moves along smoother if you do your part.
In the photos to looks like we have plenty of extra but we only have 3” and when the machine head moves to quilt the design the carriage will bump the clamps and then there could be a whoops in your design!
