As we start to wrap up 2023 and head into the new year, there are always new trends. In the hardwood flooring industry, we have found that people are leaning towards the natural tones of wood such as taupe, light pale blonde with a touch of gray and soft browns. That raw look is what most are trying to achieve. Something about raw tones gives off simplicity, chic, and it’s classic. It helps brighten the home, making the home seem bigger, open, and creating a clean feel. Keep in mind that the characteristics of the wood like knots, saw marks and lots of graining and the wide planks will be making more of an appearance in homes this coming year.

What kind of finish would you want for your wood? To help keep that raw natural tone, you will want to choose a water-based finish. They tend to be clear and very durable. Plus, they dry quickly so the wait time isn’t long before you can enjoy your new floors. Oil-based, wood floor wax, and varnishes will have an amber color to them. Unless you want to achieve that tint in the finish then you may want to check those out.

But with whatever wood species you choose and stain color whether it be raw tones or dark. You can’t go wrong. Hardwood floors are timeless and will always be a statement in your home. Today marks 7 years with our one and only Galen. He is our field supervisor and when he isn’t providing excellent customer service whether or not it’s in our showroom or out on a job site, he is spending time with his beautiful family.
