Wrapping up another complete children’s clinic, unfortunately this is the one that was vandalized so went with some new foam in the rooms that had windows broken. This is my highest wear commercial vinyl at 1.2 million rubs, standard residential materials are around 50,000 rubs.

Customer seen the material I used on the last bar stools I did and decided to go with the same vinyl on their bar chairs and they turned out great. Went with new extra firm foam, factory foams now are really soft, this firmer foam prevents bottoming out on the board which isn’t comfy for anyone!

So I did an experiment, this is the foam that is in most everything new and it is absolute crap, this foam is only a few years old and failing, my foam is a 12 year foam that will actually last considerably longer in most residential applications. My foam weighs twice as much as the piece I am replacing and is much more dense with way more support! I will never sacrifice quality to make an extra buck, I know for fact atleast 1 other shop locally uses this other stuff because I have had calls to replace sofa cushions from them that are only a couple years old. It’s hard to find quality and pride in craftsmanship that built our country anymore and it’s sad!

This is on my personal bike build so I went a little overboard, shaped and took 2 inches off seat to accommodate my vertical impairment. Wanted something unique so went with a diamond stitch and then added the common rubberized grip vinyl on the side and strips on top. Made it a slip fit on the front for a cleaner look. If you can dream it I can do it for any custom builds!!

Had to think a bit outside the box on this gym equipment, this foam is injection molded onto backing and much denser than average foam, ended up using closed cell foam used to make custom automotive door panels and things of that nature, the density matched well and turned out great! Also don’t let your stuff get this bad your wallet will thank you if you just get the covers fixed immediately. I do what I can to prioritize commercial jobs and minimize down time for them.

Someone recently asked why people spend the money to redo these instead of buying new, these I’m estimating are early 2000 maybe late 90s, the end of quality, built with oak constructed with wood dowels, took about 30 minutes to knock apart each one and properly reglue them now they are good for another 25 years, new stuff usually isn’t even wood anymore and instead of dowels they just shoot 1000 staples into each seam, so if you have old stuff it’s well worth the cost. New foam, added a couple layers of cotton and done in stain resistant crypton fabric.
