🎄 Help Us Fill 270 Christmas Boxes for Our Homebound Neighbors! 🎄

Every year, our homebound individuals rely on us for support, and every December, we make sure they're taken care of while Marcella's Kitchen is closed for the holidays. Each person receives a Christmas Box packed with two full weeks of food to get them through the season.

This year, our goal is 270 boxes, and we can't do it without our community!

We're so grateful for our friends at the local racetrack and Murtco Mechanical Contractors in Paducah, who step up every single year to help make this happen.

📣 In October, they're hosting an event and collecting canned goods that will go directly toward:
✅ Our Christmas Boxes for homebound individuals
✅ Our Grocery Give-Away at our Christmas Party

If you can attend their event and bring a canned good donation, you'll be helping us reach more of our neighbors this Christmas season. Every can counts!

📅 See the flyer for event details, and thank you for helping us spread a little more hope this holiday season. 🙏🥫

Huge thanks to this racetrack and Murtco Mechanical Contractors in Paducah for partnering with us again this year on our Christmas Boxes! Each box provides two weeks of food for homebound individuals in our community while we're closed for the holidays, and this year we're aiming to give away 270 boxes.

At their upcoming event, they'll be collecting canned goods that will go directly toward our homebound boxes and our grocery giveaway at our Christmas Party.

If you can make it out to their event, please do — and share this post! Every can donated and every share helps us reach more of our neighbors in need this Christmas. 🎄

This racetrack and Murtco Mechanical Contractors in Paducah help us every year with our Christmas Boxes, which we give to homebound individuals to use while we are closed for the holidays.

Each box includes 2 weeks of food. This year, we plan to give away 270 boxes.

They will be collecting canned goods at their event that will go toward our homebound boxes as well as our grocery giveaway at our Christmas Party.

Please share this with others, everyone who participates in their event also helps us get more donations for what we do for those in our area at Christmas.

Your Monthly Update!

This summer our Pastor is teaching a class on “odd” stories from the Bible. So far, we have covered Balaam and Jonah. As I thought about these stories the thing that jumps out to me is how far God will go to try to get us to do what He wants us to do. If you recall King Balak wanted Balaam to issue a curse on Israel. God told Balaam to bless Israel, not curse Israel, which Balaam did. I think the real issue God was working on in Balaam was a heart issue. I think Balaam liked the attention and the monetary gifts which came from being “God’s prophet”. God went so far as to let Balaam’s donkey talk in order to get Balaam’s attention! Think about it, would a curse from Balaam had any effect on God’s provision for Israel? The whole story is God trying to get Balaam’s heart right.

Then think about Jonah. God told him to go to Nineveh. Jonah went the opposite direction. God sent a tremendous storm which got Jonah thrown off the boat. Then God prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah to keep him alive and then deposit him on shore three days later. Jonah went to Nineveh and preached the shortest sermon ever and Nineveh repented. What did Jonah do? He got mad that God had accepted the repentance of the Ninevites. So, was Jonah the only way God could reach Nineveh? Of course not! Again, this story really is about God trying to reach Jonah’s heart! Nineveh’s repentance is a bonus, but this again is really God working on the heart of one of his children.
I hope I learn to follow what God has for me without God having to let farm animals talk or big fish swallow me. I believe God has a plan for my life and I believe His plan is the best plan. So why not allow God to have His will in my life? Unfortunately, as the old hymn says, I’m “prone to wander, Lord I feel it. Prone to leave the God I love” let’s learn to follow and not wander!

Things are rolling on at the Kitchen! We are averaging just over 6,000 meals per month so far this year. We’ve had a few new volunteers step up, thank you! We need more! We need a few faithful dishwashers and I need more drivers. We have two routes where there are almost as many people on the waiting list as there are folks on the list. Would you consider helping? I guarantee a blessing!
