This painting has hung in my home for decades.

Long before I understood all that motherhood would ask of me, there was something about her face that always stopped me. She looks strong, yet weary. Graceful, yet carrying a weight no one else can see. To me, she has always reminded me of my mother.

Now, years later, my daughter sees this same painting and says it reminds her of me.

Maybe that’s because there is a quiet thread that runs through generations of women who love deeply. Women who carry burdens they never talk about. Women who hold families together, wipe tears, fight battles in prayer, and somehow keep showing up when no one sees the cost.

What I love most about this painting isn’t the beauty of the woman—it’s the story I see in her eyes. She looks like someone who has been with the Lord. Someone who has poured out her heart in the quiet place and found the strength to get up and do it all again.

My mother taught me that kind of faith.

And if my daughter sees even a glimpse of that in me, then I am grateful beyond words.

Three generations. One faithful God.

The same God who carried my mother.
The same God who carries me.
The same God who will carry my daughter and granddaughter.

And that is the most beautiful inheritance I could ever leave behind. 🤍✨

Today, we honor every mother.

The mothers who show up every single day, even when they’re exhausted.The mothers carrying the weight of the world quietly and gracefully.The mothers who love deeply, sacrifice endlessly, and keep pouring into everyone around them.

We also hold space for the women grieving today…The mothers who have lost children.The women longing to become mothers.The ones carrying silent pain no one else can see.

You are seen.You are loved.And your story matters.

Father, thank You for every mother who keeps showing up, even when she feels tired, overlooked, or stretched thin. Please cover her with peace, renew her strength, and fill her heart with joy today. For the ones grieving, longing, or carrying silent pain, wrap them in Your comfort. Remind every mother that her love matters and her sacrifices are seen.
