Spent the afternoon at the Sloan Miyasato showroom in San Francisco together with last week exploring the latest collections from Kohro 🇮🇹 with their rep visiting from Italy, thank you so much Rosa for the invitation!

Fell in love instantly with some of these amazing fabrics that make our job transforming spaces so easy!
ManyC many possibilities on the horizon for our upcoming projects.

Cupertino bathroom coming along! These soothing colors in the shower feel amazing person, as do the floor tiles with that nice texture, almost feels like walking on seaside rocks.

One of the things I always think about before tile is even installed: layout.

For this bathroom, I sized the niche specifically around the tile dimensions so the lines would align cleanly and the cuts would feel intentional. It’s a small detail, but it completely changes how finished and seamless a space feels.

Good design isn’t just about choosing beautiful materials — it’s about planning how everything comes together.

I’ve been thinking about what the core of Italian design is for me, and I keep going back to the word harmony.
Spaces that feel layered and personal instead of perfectly “matched.”

For this primary suite, the mural wallpaper really set the tone. The black-and-white forest feels dramatic and calm at the same time — almost like an old Italian villa mood, but cleaner and more modern.

To balance out its serious vibe we brought in color through the pillows and the decor accents. So it feels warmer, more lived in, and more reflective of the people that actually live in the space.

Then the bathroom becomes a little quieter and lighter emotionally. Calm, simple, relaxing. Still an element of fun with the wavy tiles.

I always think a primary suite should feel like an experience, not just a beautiful bedroom connected to a bathroom, and our clients confirmed that this goal was achieved for them, which is a great win!

POV: interior design is not just pretty mood boards 😅

On the floor checking how the light hits the flooring. On a ladder squinting at paint chips on the ceiling. Sitting on every single sofa — for science. Opening and closing doors approximately 47 times. Standing outside in the wind to see how natural light reads on a finish.
And yes, that’s me changing a tire — because sometimes getting to a client’s site on time just requires it.

This is what “great service” actually looks like at Florentine Design. We do the legwork — literally — so you don’t have to feel overwhelmed by the hundreds of decisions that go into a space.
