It’s been incredibly difficult to watch the devastation brought by last weekend’s bizarre weather. Our hearts grieve for the people and communities displaced and for the land and parks engulfed in flames. Big Basin State Park as we remember it, known for its magnificent ancient redwood trees, is gone.

There isn’t much we can do to stop the fires now, but we can support organizations dedicated to protecting our parks, ensuring that our great redwoods will rise again.

“We do not know exactly what the future holds, but we do know that coast redwoods are remarkably resilient, thrive even during adverse conditions, and are naturally fire-adaptive. We intend to be here for the forests we protected in the past to see that they rise to the skies once more.”

Let’s take care of our home. We’re excited to announce that starting today, 5% of our profits will be donated to the Ocean Conservancy to advocate for protecting special marine habitats, restoring sustainable fisheries, and reducing the human impact on ocean ecosystems.

The ocean is a very special place, making up 71% of the planet and home to an estimated 1 million + species of animals. With climate change and greenhouse gas emissions on the rise, our coastal and marine ecosystems are severely threatened. We want future generations to also witness California’s majestic Big Sur ocean cliffs, the colorful Great Barrier Reef of Australia, and the numerous other natural wonders of the world.

At Trail575, we’re committed to minimizing our carbon footprint. Our candles are shipped using recyclable boxes and biodegradable peanuts and packaging, and though we know these are just small steps towards a big problem, we’re just getting started.

Trail575 offers scented candles inspired by nature and haiku. Each candle is hand-poured in our Berkeley, California studio.
