A Southern transplant, Lane grew up in Tallahassee, FL and completed undergraduate studies at Rhodes College in Memphis, TN. She later moved to San Francisco to attend the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where she graduated with advanced degrees in vocal performance and then spent several years as a highly-acclaimed soprano in leading roles throughout the Bay Area. Several trips to Europe incl

uding summer studies at Oxford University and Il Globo Instituto in Italy where she traveled extensively, as well as an extended trip to Japan, fueled Lane’s love of design and architecture. Living in cities like San Francisco, Charleston, SC and Memphis created a lifetime love of the relation between a home’s past and present. After taking time off from singing to manage the demands of a growing family, Lane began to focus entirely on her other passion: designing interiors. Lane apprenticed on numerous projects with a local design and construction firm as a designer and assistant project manager before founding her own firm in 2012. This hands-on experience allowed Lane to develop a network of trusted vendors, artisans and tradespeople, often with environmental certifications. Custom and semi-custom pieces are a feature of many of Lane’s designs and she works with local artisans to create one-of-a-kind pieces for clients throughout the Bay Area. Lane McNab Interiors has developed a tried and true system for design implementation with an emphasis on a stress-free, detailed execution and client experience. A deep devotion to the transformative power of beauty in people’s lives, once through music and now through design connects Lane’s passions.

There is a feeling that comes from walking into a home that has been thoughtfully restored.

In this early 1900s Palo Alto Craftsman, natural materials, warm wood tones, and timeless details create an entryway that feels grounded and connected to the history of the home.

Rather than recreating the past, the design brings the craftsmanship forward, creating a space that feels like it has always belonged.

Meet the Fig Chair, designed to move easily from a vaulted living room to a quiet reading nook.

Made to order in California, the Fig Chair pairs solid wood construction with a range of upholstery options, including the warm, variegated orange weave shown here. Comfortable, versatile and made by artisans who take pride in their craft.

This Oakland loft was never about creating a more polished version of an industrial space. It was about creating a home that felt personal.

The smallest details can have the biggest impact on how a home feels.

My approach draws from both interior design and architecture, with a particular appreciation for historic homes and the way they evolve over time. Understanding that history and the context in which a home was built, helps guide the decisions that shape each project.

It takes a lot of attention and a lot of work, but seeing that thoughtfulness come together in a way that transforms the experience of a home is always worth it.

Before & After.

This 1970s kitchen renovation focused on opening the space, strengthening the connection between rooms and creating a brighter, more welcoming kitchen that takes full advantage of the home’s natural light and surrounding views. Every design decision was made to create a home that feels as good as it functions.

Our work doesn’t follow one particular aesthetic and that’s intentional.

Every home and client brings something different to the process. We look for the balance between the client’s vision and the character, history, and setting of the home, allowing both to shape the design.

When those two things come together, the design feels authentic to the people who live there and the home itself.

Every home tells a different story.

Whether we're working with a historic home or a new build, our approach is always the same: understand the architecture first, then design in a way that feels authentic to the home and the people who live there.
