THANK YOU to all of you who’ve been following along or participating this week as we celebrate pollinators 🐝🪻🦋! Did you know that ladybugs can also be pollinators? They’re ferocious aphid eaters, which protect many plants in the garden, but they also eat pollen, attract other pollinators, and pollinate as they move from plant to plant. (New Lady Birds + Brambles towel and napkin shown) Also, if you’re local, Happy Pride! Sunday is the Berkley Pride Block Party, what better way to end Pollinator Week!

Happy Pollinator Week! We’ve got giveaways, games, and give-backs planned. I get asked this question all the time - Why Pollinators? Here’s my answer: Pollinators are fascinating creatures, all highly unique, and symbiotically adapted to their environments. With so many significant differences between them, from having big bodies with tiny wings, or building perfectly symmetrical honeycomb and making honey, to starting from a tiny egg, growing to a chunky caterpillar, building a cocoon, then turning to liquid before completely transforming into a butterfly - while keeping memory and sensory direction along the way, to having special beaks that can gather nectar from tubular shaped flowers, or hovering like a helicopter, to seeing via sonar, to having amazing camouflage, or being able to migrate for winter, thousands of miles away - each existing to play their part in their ecosystems, within the world we live in. Without them, our world would be dramatically different. Everything in nature is connected, and so protecting them is vital to everyone - even us humans!
