Move over, cornstalks -- we're making room for broomcorn! Actually a variety of sorghum (introduced to North America by Benjamin Franklin, of all people), this crop is perfect for adding distinctive texture to any fall display. We love how it looks on a porch post adorned simply with ribbon. How would you use it in your decor?

Have you ever made a mumkin? It's a wonderful way to combine two seasonal staples if you love mums and carving pumpkins (and don't mind that they only last about a week or two before nature takes over). We made a few versions--decorated with a cute stenciled banner, a large one with multicolored mums, a tiny but mighty variegated gourd--but the creative possibilities are endless!
