🐥 A little delayed opening at Evergreen today!

I picked up our last batch of baby chicks for the year this morning! We’re getting everybody settled in, fed, watered, and happy before heading into the store.

We’re planning to open a little later today, around 10:45–11:00 AM.

We’ve got a fresh dairy restock and plenty to go around this week!

Fresh raw A2/A2 cream-top milk from a local micro-dairy, raw goat milk, chocolate milk, and some amazing cream-top yogurt in plain, blueberry, and strawberry.

And don’t forget about our selection of raw cheeses and all the other great local products we keep stocked in the store.

This pile of chicken sh*t is worth more than you might think.

With new chicks coming next week, it was time for a full brooder clean-out. Fresh, dry bedding is incredibly important for keeping young chicks healthy—but all that old bedding and manure doesn’t go to waste.

We recently cleared this ground, and if we want to grow great pasture, we have to build great soil first. This litter returns nutrients and organic matter to the ground, helps improve moisture retention, and gives us a foundation for better grass in the years ahead.

Chickens → litter → soil → grass → livestock.

That’s the kind of cycle we want to keep building here.

We paused chicken production during August—and it was one of the best decisions we’ve made.

Our chickens live outside on pasture, so they experience the heat right along with us. We planned ahead, stocked our freezers, and skipped a batch during the hottest part of summer because healthier, happier birds will always come first.
