Iridescent Smithsonite from the Antler Mine, located near Pine Peak in the Hualapai Mountains of Mohave County, Arizona.

The Antler deposit was first discovered in 1879, with the original Antler claim later patented in 1894. Recorded production began around 1916, and the mine was worked intermittently through the mid-1900s, with its strongest production period running from roughly 1943 to 1954. Mining continued sporadically until about 1970.

The mine is best known as a historic copper-zinc-lead-silver deposit, and among collectors, Antler Mine material is appreciated for its colorful secondary minerals formed in the oxidized zones. Smithsonite, a secondary zinc carbonate, forms when zinc-bearing minerals alter near the surface, often creating soft luster, botryoidal textures, and in special pieces like this, a subtle iridescent glow.

A classic Arizona locality piece with history, character, and serious display appeal.

Metaphysical sprinkle: Smithsonite is often associated with calm, emotional balance, and gentle heart energy.
