Nichole Adessa's Studio

Nichole Adessa's Studio Author • Photographer • Creator ✨ Books, photography & imaginative creations made to bring a little more joy to everyday life. Welcome to my studio!

I became an artist around 8 years old, a single mother at 18, a high school graduate 2 weeks later, a homeowner at 24,
a college student at 25, a college graduate at 30, a wife to my high school sweetheart at 31, a grandmother (Nonna) at 36,
a business owner at 39, and a Nonna again at 40. Throughout all of that, art has always been a beautiful part of most
everything I do, and I want to be able to support my family with what I love. But more importantly I want to share my
love with others.

🍂 There’s something a little surreal about holding something in your hands that started as an idea on your computer.

This was my very first look through the finished copy of Pixie Pointe: Harvest Time — and I love how it turned out. ❤️

The colors, the little details, the fall scenes… seeing it all together in an actual book is completely different from seeing the pages on my screen.

Pixie Pointe: Harvest Time is now available on Amazon. 🍁📚

Which page would you want to explore first?

📸 What happens when a photographer decides to make greeting cards?

Apparently… a LOT of greeting cards. 😂

These are all made from my own photography, and I love seeing the images turn into something you can actually hold, send, or keep. ❤️

From beaches and flowers to wildlife, Americana, and a few of my favorites from over the years — there's a little bit of everything in these baskets.

Which one would you pick? 💌

🧚‍♀️ Pixie Pointe almost disappeared.

The original Pixie Pointe wasn't created for a book. It was a real little fairy garden I built at our home in Ohio, filled with tiny paths, a pond, little waterfalls, a fairy house and all sorts of little details.

When we moved to North Carolina, the garden didn't survive the move. And when my granddaughter, Sis, got old enough to really understand the pictures and stories about it, she was disappointed that she never got to see Nonna's fairy garden for herself.

That stayed with me.

Eventually I realized that while I couldn't bring the original garden back, I could bring Pixie Pointe back in another way.

So I used my photographs of the original garden to create Pixie Pointe: A Fairy Garden Adventure — a way for Sis, and now other children too, to explore that tiny world even though the original garden is gone. 🧚‍♀️🌸

I don't think I realized when I made that first book what I was starting. 😂

Sis certainly did.

She has plenty of ideas for more books she thinks Nonna needs to make, and Pixie Pointe has already grown far beyond that first adventure.

Looking at this book now, I don't really see the fairy garden we lost anymore. I see where all of this started. ❤️

And apparently, according to Sis, we're nowhere near finished. 😂🧚‍♀️

🐾 Every studio needs a supervisor. Mine is Zoey.

Her responsibilities include keeping an eye on me while I work, investigating anything new that comes into the house, and performing very thorough quality-control inspections.

As you can see, she takes that last responsibility VERY seriously. 😂

She may not contribute much to the actual designing, but she is excellent company — and apparently no photography prop is officially approved until Zoey has inspected it.

Does anyone else have a four-legged coworker who insists on being involved in everything? 🐶❤️

🍂 Pixie Pointe has changed a lot since that first little fairy garden.

When I started creating Pixie Pointe: Harvest Time, I wanted the new world to still feel like the Pixie Pointe I originally built and photographed — just bigger, with room for the fairies' adventures to grow.

So, I used photographs of my original fairy house and garden as inspiration while creating the new scenes. The little house, winding paths, pond, creek, bridge, picnic area and all those tiny details still feel like home... they've just been transformed for autumn. 🧚🍁

This is where the newest Pixie Pointe adventure begins. Everyone is getting ready for the harvest celebration, and there's a lot of work to do!

Which little part would you explore first — the fairy house or the pond? 🍂✨

📸 There’s usually a story behind my favorite photographs.

This one took me about 30 minutes to get exactly the way I wanted it. I kept moving, looking, adjusting and trying again until all those beams underneath the Surf City Pier lined up and led straight to the ocean.

But Under the Boardwalk is special to me for another reason.

I grew up visiting Topsail Island, and this was taken during the first trip there with Danny after he moved in with us. My parents, brother, sister-in-law and nieces were there too, and we rented a beach house for the week. We spent our time walking the beach, exploring, and showing Danny a place that had been part of my life since I was a kid.

So when I look at this photograph, I don't just see the pier. I remember that week. ❤️

And yes... once I decided I wanted this exact shot, I was determined to get it. 😂

Do you have a place you've been visiting since you were a kid?

🧚 Before Pixie Pointe was a book, it was a tiny world I created.

It started with a little door, a tire swing, tiny places to sit, winding paths, flowers, and all the little details that made me imagine what might happen there when no one was looking. ✨

I started photographing those little scenes, and eventually those photographs became Pixie Pointe: A Fairy Garden Adventure — the first book in what has now become a growing Pixie Pointe series. 📚

I love looking back at the original garden and seeing where all of this started. I definitely didn't know then that one little fairy garden would eventually lead to books, coloring pages, activities, bookmarks…and now a whole new Harvest adventure. 🍂

Swipe through to see a few pieces of the original Pixie Pointe — and the book they became. 💕

Which little spot would you visit first: the fairy door, the tire swing, or the picnic area?
