On my way home after a wonderful week with family. I am so full and would be quite happy if I didn’t see mashed potatoes and turkey for another year.
Pie though? That’s another story. I could still eat pie every day and be happy. 🥧🥧🥧

I had a commission for a 14 inch tall Version of this. Since clay shrinks, it had to be closer to 18” fresh off the wheel. That’s still a challenge for me especially with porcelain. So I created this one pictured first to get geared up and ready. I think this is about 10” tall. But you know what? It might not have the height of its sister but it has the same amount of detail 😂

I LOVE these pieces when they come out of the kiln….and I do, of course, revel in the making process. HOWEVER, they can be nerve wracking. Any time you add clay to clay, be it a mug handle or these leaves, you risk the chance that one of them will be rejected by the pot. Sometimes you’ll get a crack where they join, or you might even see the attachment full-on pop off the piece. It’s risky, but when it works, it has such MOVEMENT!
