Hi everyone! Last week, my best friend and business partner, Shayna, shared the inspiration behind her half of our business name. Today, I wanted to share the inspiration behind mine 🤍

Living in New Hampshire, the Granite State, is what first inspired the “Stone” in Salt + Stone. I’ve always been drawn to natural textures, timeless materials, and spaces that feel grounded. Stone also represents strength, structure, and stability to me, which are qualities I naturally bring to both our designs and our business.

Now that you know where the “Stone” comes from, here are a few fun facts about me.

🤍 I’m a mom of two little ones, ages 6 and almost 4. Before becoming a stay-at-home mom, I worked in the medical field, but interior design had always been my passion. Staying home with my kids gave me the opportunity to finally take the leap and turn that passion into a career.

🎵🐱 I’m a proud Swiftie and, naturally, a cat person too. I have two cats at home, but if I had it my way, I’d probably have an entire cat sanctuary.

📋 I’ve always loved creating order through organization. Whether I’m designing a home or keeping the behind-the-scenes of Salt + Stone Co. running smoothly, I’m happiest when everything has a place. Although I’ve definitely organized things so well that even I can’t remember where I put them. 😂

♒️ I’m an Aquarius, and I’d say I’m pretty true to the stereotype. Independent, creative, and usually somewhere between dreaming up my next idea and overthinking it.

🏡 I’m a total homebody. Give me a cozy night in with my family and a bag of Milano cookies, and I’m happy. That feeling is exactly what I hope to create in every home we design. Spaces people genuinely love coming home to. 🤍

It’s been a while since we’ve introduced ourselves, and with so many new faces here, we thought it was time to share the story behind Salt + Stone Co.

I’m Shayna, we each represent a part of our name, and I’m the Salt.

I live in Swampscott, Massachusetts, just down the road from the ocean, and coastal living has always been a huge source of inspiration for me. It’s not about seashells or nautical décor 🐚 it’s the feeling. The natural textures, soft palette, relaxed elegance, and timeless beauty of the coast influence so much of the way I design.

Now that you know where the “Salt” comes from, here are a few fun facts about me…

🤍 I’m a mom to two amazing kids who keep life equal parts chaotic and magical. Most days I’m juggling job sites, design meetings, school pickup, sports, and making dinner.

☀️ Summer is my favorite season. Give me beach days, pool afternoons, backyard dinners, and long nights with family and friends, and I’m in my happy place.

🏡 I’ve always loved creating homes where people naturally gather. Whether it’s designing for clients or hosting in our own home, I love making spaces that feel warm, welcoming, and lived in.

✈️ I love to travel. Exploring beautiful destinations, architecture, and boutique hotels always leaves me inspired and full of ideas to bring home.

🤍 Family is everything to me. At the end of the day, my greatest joy is creating a life my kids will remember, filled with traditions, adventures, laughter, and a home that’s always full of people.

✨ A little behind-the-scenes update…

If we’ve been a little quiet lately, it’s because we’ve been busy wrapping up projects, starting exciting new ones, and investing in the growth of our business.

Over the past six months, we’ve had the privilege of working with the incredible , who has helped us elevate our systems, processes, and client experience. Her guidance, expertise, and passion for helping designers grow have been truly invaluable, and we’re so grateful for everything she’s shared with us along the way.

While we’ve been focused on creating beautiful spaces, we’ve also been working hard behind the scenes to build an even stronger foundation for Salt + Stone. We can’t wait to share more of what we’ve been working on and the exciting projects ahead.

To our fellow designers: if you’re looking for someone who truly knows her stuff, Brooke is the real deal. 🤍

Our first High Point Market ✨

A weekend full of newness, incredible showrooms, thoughtful craftsmanship, and so much inspiration around every corner. We learned, we sourced, we refined our eye, and left feeling even more grounded in what we love 🤍 intentional, elevated design that truly lasts.

Grateful to experience it all for the first time and already looking forward to the next.

Two little girls who didn’t know each other yet…
Fast forward to hair school, navigating every stage of life side by side, and now building a business together.

What started as a friendship turned into a partnership built on trust, creativity, a whole lot of laughs (and probably a few spirals along the way).

Grateful for the journey, the growth, and the reminder that when women support each other, incredible things can happen.
