For real this time, I’m buying the wood tomorrow. 😆 Then I’m putting the hubby to work cutting and building (for those that want hanging hardware) so I can start sealing the boards for outdoor use. I’ll be prepping these in phases allll week, making sure they’re ready for you to do the fun part: PAINT!

Next Saturday, I’ll have the designs all prepped for you to jump in. When you arrive, you can pick out a color scheme (I have fancy cards with suggestions), and I help mix your paint to match. We’ll tape out the edges and you’ll start your first color. Because we need the paint to fully dry before proceeding to the next color, you’re welcome to take a walking break in the gym or stop by the bakery for a treat. It’s going to be a fantastic time, especially if you bring a friend! 😉

My fingers are frozen, but you can’t really beat this view this morning. When we go on trips, I have a little watercolor kit that I bring for just these occasions. All paintings are very quick, more of a sketch. It’s just a lighthearted capture of a beautiful view, all on site and in the moment. I’d love to spend more time on this one and add more layers and details, but my fingers really can’t handle the cold anymore. They’re very slowly typing up this post inside the cozy, warm lobby of the K Bar S Lodge . 🤣❤️

It’s a smidge gloomy here today, but I’m back at the K Bar S Lodge in the Black Hills! Funny story: when we were here last year, it was foggy; but the view was gorgeous with the tree tops poking up through the fog. When it lifted on our last morning, I was stunned to see that Mt. Rushmore had been hiding back there the whole time. 🤣

My sketch from Art & Unwind this morning. I so love this little gathering. It’s a delightful hour of light chatting and creating, zero expectations. A time where I get to set aside other obligations and allow myself to experiment and play. And it’s amazing how quickly the time goes by- I think we were ten minutes after our hour before anyone thought to look at a clock today. 😆

Art & Unwind is open to all. Tuesday mornings at my studio inside Big Stone Commons. You can@pay with one of their Wellness Punchcards, or it’s $12 to drop in. All supplies included.

Ok, guys… LAAAST CALL! Have you been on the fence about sign up for one of these? What questions do you have?

Kids art club is going to be great for any upper elem or middle school aged kid that wants to learn some fancy tricks for drawing! All three sessions are included for the $25, and after school busing is available. Starts Tuesday!

The barn quilt! Come make a lovely piece prepped to display outside! (Or inside) These take a LOT of prep work, so I need to know ASAP if you’re joining.

Oh man, this workshop is a doozy for prep work! And no, I did not miscount - Step 1 is when I have the hubby cut down the wood to size. 😆 And between all those layers, there needs to be a good 24 hours of drying time… Good thing I do all the boring stuff and you get to do the painting! 😏 But all that prep work takes time, and with that said, time is running out to register! Art-a-la-Cart is Moon and Back’s open studio time. Base price is $10/hr- though I think I’ve seen some coupons floating around. 😏 Fee includes basic supplies, but you can always add on extras.
