🌸 10 years ago, I almost became a memory. 🌸
September is a complicated month for me.
It’s National Su***de Prevention Month, but for me, it’s also the month that marks 10 years since I tried to take my own life at just 15 years old.
Fifteen.
When I think about that little girl now, I wish more than anything I could go back and sit beside her. I wish I could hold her, wipe her tears, and tell her:
“Baby girl, please stay. You have no idea how beautiful your life is going to become.”
She couldn’t see it then.
She couldn’t see the woman she would become.
She couldn’t see the people she would love.
She couldn’t see the little boy who would one day call her Mama.
She couldn’t see the home, the memories, the laughter, the hard days she would survive, or the beautiful moments that would make every tear worth it.
She couldn’t see that one day, she would wake up and be so incredibly grateful that she stayed.
And honestly… sometimes that realization still brings me to tears.
Because I almost missed all of this.
I almost missed my son’s first smile.
His little arms wrapped around my neck.
His first day of school.
The sound of him calling me Mama.
The love I have found.
The friendships that carried me.
The dreams I’ve built.
The flowers I’ve grown.
The woman I’ve fought so hard to become.
I almost missed the life I once begged God to let me have.
But God had other plans for me. 🤍
He wasn’t finished writing my story.
Ten years later, I am still here.
Not because life has been easy. It hasn’t. There have been days I’ve fallen apart. Days I’ve questioned everything. Days I’ve cried until there were no tears left.
But there have also been days that reminded me why I stayed.
And this September, I don’t want to celebrate the fact that I survived by pretending those memories don’t hurt.
I want to celebrate them by saying:
I SURVIVED.
I AM HERE.
I AM LOVED.
I AM NEEDED.
AND MY LIFE IS WORTH CELEBRATING. 🌸
So, in honor of 10 years of choosing to stay, I want to do something that feels very me.
Flowers have become one of the things that bring me the most happiness. They have given me a creative outlet, a business, a purpose, and countless opportunities to make someone else’s day a little brighter.
So for the entire month of September…
🌷 $10 OFF ANY FLOWER ORDER FROM BUTTERFLY BLOOM. 🌷
Ten dollars for ten years.
Whether you’re sending flowers to someone you love, celebrating a milestone, remembering someone you’ve lost, or simply buying yourself flowers because you made it through another day…
let’s celebrate being here. 🤍
And if you’re reading this while you’re in the place I was in 10 years ago, please hear me:
You are not a burden.
You are not too broken.
You are not too far gone.
And this moment is not the end of your story.
I know you may not believe me right now.
I didn’t either.
But there is a version of you that exists years from now who will look back at this moment and be so thankful you stayed long enough to meet them.
Please stay.
And to the 15-year-old version of me…
I’m sorry you hurt so badly.
I’m sorry you couldn’t see your worth.
But look at us now, baby girl.
We made it. 🥹🤍🌸
And I will spend the rest of my life being grateful that God gave me another page to write.
No rain, no flowers. 🌧️🌸
