Today was essentially my first day back since mid- December due to the holiday break, a Covid quarantine (Patrick, Henry and myself all got it) and then the big move. While I have checked in when I could, this feels like the real the start of the year. I have been doing some reflecting on the past year over the last couple of weeks and what a year it was. Last year will be one I will remember forever- it was one of those that was just so amazing you can’t believe it and at the same time so trying you wonder how you made it through. Some highlights in chronological order starting last January:
*Moved into a new office in the same building we were currently in. I thought this would be easier than when we moved previously from a different part of town but a move is a move.
*Moved out of our house in the rental
*Said goodbye to our old house
*Tore down our house
*I turned 40 and spent the summer celebrating with some of my nearest and dearest
*My oldest turned 10 which I found to be an emotional roller coaster on this mother’s heart
*We said a truly heartbreaking goodbye to our first child- Harry, our 14 year old dog
*We we’re finally able to travel back to see (some) of our families for Thanksgiving and Christmas
*And finally, we moved out of the rental into the new house we built back on our old lot
All of this while still working during a very trying year professionally due to extreme lead times, shortage of….everything and volatile uncertainty at every turn. So, it was a very special year, but also a year of significant change…which while often difficult, also encourages growth, which is such a gift. More thoughts on what I hope that will mean going forward into 2022 another day. As always, thank you for your love and support- those are not hollow words- I am truly grateful from the bottom of my heart. ❤️
