Came across this photo today- not a styled finished photo, but the feel of the space is there. This is at a client’s lake house, but one of the things I have enjoyed the most about being in the new house is the return of baths. 🛁

Today was essentially my first day back since mid- December due to the holiday break, a Covid quarantine (Patrick, Henry and myself all got it) and then the big move. While I have checked in when I could, this feels like the real the start of the year. I have been doing some reflecting on the past year over the last couple of weeks and what a year it was. Last year will be one I will remember forever- it was one of those that was just so amazing you can’t believe it and at the same time so trying you wonder how you made it through. Some highlights in chronological order starting last January:

*Moved into a new office in the same building we were currently in. I thought this would be easier than when we moved previously from a different part of town but a move is a move.

*Moved out of our house in the rental

*Said goodbye to our old house

*Tore down our house

*I turned 40 and spent the summer celebrating with some of my nearest and dearest

*My oldest turned 10 which I found to be an emotional roller coaster on this mother’s heart

*We said a truly heartbreaking goodbye to our first child- Harry, our 14 year old dog

*We we’re finally able to travel back to see (some) of our families for Thanksgiving and Christmas

*And finally, we moved out of the rental into the new house we built back on our old lot

All of this while still working during a very trying year professionally due to extreme lead times, shortage of….everything and volatile uncertainty at every turn. So, it was a very special year, but also a year of significant change…which while often difficult, also encourages growth, which is such a gift. More thoughts on what I hope that will mean going forward into 2022 another day. As always, thank you for your love and support- those are not hollow words- I am truly grateful from the bottom of my heart. ❤️

1.5.22- Favorite scenes from today- the day we were all supposed to start back to work/school. 😷 Yep…I figured it was only a matter of time and this week Covid arrived at our house. Thank you for all your messages from today’s story, your kindness goes a long way! Answers to some ?s- I do have covid and while I don’t feel great, I don’t feel terrible and for that I am very grateful. As of right now the boys are negative…but we will wait and see if that remains the case. We are moving into the new house on the 13th; originally it was this week, but prior to the Covid result we had already decided to push it back one week and that has been a blessing. It was pretty brutal to get the result right before the kids were supposed to be back in school after a long break, but after a good cry 😭 I am looking at the silver linings. When the World shut down the first time we spent hours hiking nearby and there isn’t much I love more than being in nature with the boys. So while a quarantine right now is less than ideal while trying to get back to work and move to the new house, it comes with its treasure too. 💙💙💙
Also- it probably goes without saying, but while these captured moments are special and sweet, there has been plenty of…less than ideal parental and child behavior and we are still early on 😬😳 You can still send prayers for the sanity of all parties involved.

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas!🎄

I highly recommend taking a trip to see the exhibit. It was wonderful to experience his art in such a unique way and see the kids enjoy it as well.

Thanksgiving 🦃 . I love that we have a special day to reflect on all there is to be thankful for- big and small. What a wild and unbelievable time we are living in and I am thankful that I still get to do this job I love, for clients I love, with women who I truly love like family. I could not do it without them and I feel that gratitude on a daily basis.

Thank you too for following along here. Wishing you all a special Thanksgiving. 🧡

I had been waiting for a while to use these lights somewhere- I had always loved them. I love the patina on them in this polished kitchen.
