❤️ My Creative Kreations Story — Part 3

In April/May of 2016, life changed direction again and we moved to Pocatello.

By this point, Creative Kreations had grown tremendously. I had accumulated well over 10,000 ceramic molds, and as you can probably tell from these pictures... moving my business was no small project. 😂

I set everything back up and kept going.

But our time in Pocatello ended up being much shorter than we expected. My husband was injured and had to have surgery, and only about six months after moving there, I found a place back in Blackfoot.

So in November of 2016, we packed everything up AGAIN and came home.

Thankfully, this would be the last major move for several years.

Once we were back in Blackfoot, Creative Kreations didn't have a traditional storefront. Instead, I made whatever space I had work.

My garage became part of the shop.
My basement became part of the shop.
And eventually FOUR storage units became part of the shop. 😂

It wasn't exactly the beautiful ceramic studio I had pictured all those years before, but it allowed me to keep doing what I loved and keep the business going.

And then, in early 2019, I decided to try one more time.

Creative Kreations had a storefront again. ❤️

I was so excited.

I wanted it to be more than just a place filled with ceramics. I wanted people to be able to come in, create something of their own, spend time together and hopefully leave a little happier than when they walked through the door.

And for a little while, I got to see that happen.

The two little artists you see in one of these pictures are my granddaughters, painting ceramics in Grandma's shop. ❤️

That picture means even more to me looking back now.

Unfortunately, that chapter wasn't going to last very long either.

My husband suffered a stroke and was no longer able to work. At that point, I knew where I needed to be.

I needed to be home with him.

So I made the decision to close the storefront.

But I didn't close Creative Kreations.

I went right back to the garage, the basement and those storage units and continued doing what I had learned to do over all those years:

I adapted.

Looking back now, I think that's one of the biggest lessons this journey has taught me.

Creative Kreations was never really a building.

It wasn't a storefront.
It wasn't an address.
It wasn't even the thousands and thousands of ceramic molds I had collected.

Creative Kreations was something I carried with me.

Every time life changed the plan, I found another place to put the molds, another place to pour ceramics, another way to fill the orders... and I kept going.

And then came 2020.

And once again, life was about to change everything.

Part 2 — 2013: I Thought We Were Home ❤️

In 2013, I thought maybe I had finally found the answer.

We moved into a home with a large shop, with an agreement that in three years we would hopefully be in a financial position to purchase the property.

Having my business where I lived was incredibly important to me. Finances seemed to constantly get tight in those years, and I always had this thought in the back of my mind: if I had enough space at home for my ceramics, no matter how difficult things became, I could keep making.

I could pour another piece. Fire another kiln. Make another sale.

And maybe one day this little business really could support us.

During this time, my collection of molds grew—and grew...and GREW. 😂

Once people knew I was making ceramics and had the space, I started getting calls from people cleaning out homes and storage sheds, or from people who had made ceramics for years and were ready to give it up.

Some molds were given to me. Others I was able to purchase with a relatively small investment. I kept taking opportunities when they came because something in my gut kept telling me that this was what I was supposed to be doing.

Looking at these pictures now, I'm pretty sure “Do I really need another ceramic mold?” wasn't a question I asked myself very often. 😂

But underneath all of it was something I took very seriously.

I wanted to build something that could support my family. And I wanted to do something that had meaning and value—something that allowed me to create and, hopefully, bring a little happiness into other people's lives.

I really thought this place might become our permanent home.

Three years later, life had other plans.

When the time came to purchase the property, financially we simply weren't in the position we'd hoped we would be.

So we had to move.

I knew the next place wasn't going to be permanent. It wasn't the space I'd dreamed about. It was simply what I could find at that moment.

But there was one thing I wasn't willing to do:

I wasn't giving up Creative Kreations. ❤️

So the molds were packed up—yes, ALL those molds. 😂—the ceramics came with me, and we moved on to the next chapter.
