Had the best helpers at the shop today. They were happy to try out the sit and stitch area ! Things are coming along. The shop will open Saturday, November 28! We’re located at 164 East Market Street, Suite B, in Blairsville, Pa. Stay tuned for lots of grand opening fun!

We’re excited to welcome The YarnSmith as a 2026 sponsor of The Yarny Social!

The YarnSmith is the long‑time passion project of Sam and Donna Smith.

Donna is a fiber artist with 30+ years of experience, who first learned to crochet during the Gulf War while watching CNN and worrying about Sam, who was deployed. Today she creates cherished shawls, scarves, hats, receiving blankets, and other handmade heirlooms for their large and loving family.

Sam - a US Army Desert Storm Veteran and business professional - proudly supports Donna’s creative work. Together, they use the finest fibers and dyes, embracing the science, artistry, and patience behind indie hand‑dyed yarns. Their hope is simple: that makers enjoy their yarn and bring their ideas to life.

Married for over 40 years, they celebrate their daughters Jessica, Abby, and Zoe, and their growing group of future creators — Emily, Mason, Delilah, and Hudson.

We’re grateful for The YarnSmith’s support of this year’s event.

A little heart problem slowed me down, but we will be at A Wool Gathering at Youngs in Yellow Springs, Ohio this weekend. The September bird of the month “Hawk” will be available just in time for your fall projects ! This is a great show with fabulous vendors and the nicest people, so come on out!!!🧶🧶💛💛

The secret is out! Tara from Tara Loves Crochet designed the perfect shawl for our Stitchburgh PA show colors! The City of Bridges Shawl releases this Friday for the first day of the festival. The Point of View “ color way captures the view of downtown skyline from above. “Fan Base” is perfect for the bridge like border! This is the perfect pattern for our inaugural event! Stop by our booth to pick yours up!! 🧶🧶💛💛🌁🌉
