It is with saddened hearts that we have lost 3 wonderful lives this week. These 3 amazing people are what led me to where I am today. Their love, support and encouragement could never be repaid. Jack Miller my amazing business partner that retired in 2019 taught me all I know about business. Jack was actually the Industry President of Southeast Hearth Patio and Barbecue Association in 1981. His wonderful wife Mary Miller who would come in and work with me when he was out doing job bids. She had an amazing spirit that can never be replaced. They both let us in their lives and treated us like family. Lee Lemke, when I started out in this business I knew nothing at all back in 2000 and Lee took me under his wing....not only did he teach me most of what I know about Fireplaces but he even fed my kids and I numerous times. Lee was also the maker of all our Chimney Caps he was an amazing guy with a wonderful laugh. He will be greatly missed. 🔥 IF A FIRE STARTED TONIGHT, WOULD EVERYONE KNOW WHAT TO DO? 🔥

A smoke alarm can warn you about a fire.

An escape plan tells you what happens next.

Every family should have a home fire escape plan — and everyone in the house should know it.

🚪 Know at least two ways out when possible.

🪟 Make sure doors and windows used for escape open easily and aren’t blocked.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Make sure children understand the plan.

♿ Consider anyone who may need assistance getting outside.

📍 Pick a permanent meeting place outside — a mailbox, tree, driveway entrance, or another safe location away from the house.

And most importantly:

GET OUT. STAY OUT.

Once you’re safely outside, don’t go back into a burning building for belongings, pets, or anything else. Call 911 and tell arriving firefighters if someone or something may still be inside.

You don’t want the first time your family practices your escape plan to be when the house is filling with smoke.

Practice it before you need it.
