The last time we celebrated America’s Birthday in a big way was the Bi-centennial. If you were born after that, you missed a time where America prepared and events the whole year! There were colonial times celebrations, kids dressed in era times at school and there were food, crafts and cooking events and games let’s not forget the concerts and fireworks! Then came the renewal of interest in historic events that led our young country to independence for all! It was a very patriotic time where everyone who immigrated here or born here, no matter what race or religion you are (that is what America 🇺🇸 intended to be!) came together to celebrate our Independence! I had the most wonderful experience being employed across the street from Independence Hall where I would spend my lunch hour in the park or touring historic buildings.
In the middle of this resurgence and celebration the design and furniture companies joined in recreating pieces from Americana colonial and more informal folk art eras. Carpenters were creating dental moulding and raised panel walls, Ethan Allen created their American made traditional collections along with the Colonial Williamsburg foundation the living history museum! My in-laws lived there so we had the opportunity to bring our children to learn history of our great country! That is one of the best places to see historic sites and traditional design! So just like the wide to skinny belts or high rise jeans to low slung jeans or mini skirts to maxi skirts every thing returns! It’s now the 250th Birthday of America and again we are seeing a renewed interest in American Traditional design that never goes out of style! Even the Gen-Z has been thrifting weary of the imported furniture and trading for more well made pieces that our meant to last a lifetime! This is the time for a return to our traditional roots and modernize our homes interiors with warmth and color! l applaud Veranda for this article!
