Piece by piece, Keeper of Pumpkin Hollow is coming to life. 🍂

This is one of my favorite parts of making a Gentlewoods gnome — seeing all the separate pieces spread across the worktable before they become a character with a story of his own.

The funny thing is, I’ve been doing some version of this almost my whole life.

When I was about four or five, I used to make little clothes for my troll dolls from whatever scraps I could get my hands on. Tiny clothes, tiny characters, lots of imagination.

And somehow, all these years later, here I am again — still making little coats, hats, boots, and personalities, only now they belong to the Keepers of Gentlewoods Cottage.

Some creative threads really do stay with us.

Keeper of Pumpkin Hollow is coming together one stitch at a time. 🧡

There’s a little more to a Gentlewoods Gnome…

I’ve been thinking lately about what makes these little fellows different.

I don’t really think of them as decorations.

When I begin making one, it may start with a piece of fabric, a beard, a pair of boots and an idea. But somewhere along the way, a personality begins to appear. Then come the little details—a lantern, a book of blessings, a pouch filled with gathered acorns—and before I know it, there’s a story there too.

That’s probably my favorite part of making them.

Each Gentlewoods Gnome is made by me, one at a time. No two are ever quite the same, and I don’t really want them to be.

My hope has always been that when one arrives at your home, it feels like more than something new to put on a shelf.

It feels like someone new has come to stay. 🤎

🍂 Three Autumn Keepers are arriving October 3 🍂

Something new has been stirring at the cottage, and I’m finally ready to introduce this year’s little autumn gathering.

The Keeper of Pumpkin Hollow brings a glowing lantern and a plump little pumpkin. The Keeper of Autumn Blessings carries a tiny book filled with quiet reminders of the season. And the Keeper of Little Gatherings arrives with his squirrel friend and a pouch brimming with gathered acorns.

Each seated Keeper is handmade one at a time and measures approximately 21 inches from the top of his hat to the tips of his boots.

This is a limited-edition collection, with only a few of each Keeper available. The cottage door opens for them on October 3.

Which one has already begun whispering your name?

A little note from the Cottage… 🌿

My mink bunny gnomes will be available for a limited time.

Due to a new Etsy policy, I will no longer be able to offer pieces made with mink moving forward. These bunny gnomes have been such a special part of my spring collection, and it’s bittersweet to see this chapter come to a close.

If you’ve had your heart set on one, this will be the last opportunity to bring one home.

As always, each one is made with care, story, and a bit of quiet magic.

With love,
Karen from the Cottage

How Gentlewoods Gnomes began…

Six years ago these little gnomes started as a simple creative idea. I thought they were charming and fun to make, and it seemed like everyone loved gnomes.

Over time something unexpected happened.

Each one began to develop its own character, its own story, and its own place in the growing world of Gentlewoods Cottage.

What began as a small creative project slowly became a collection of heirloom dolls — pieces meant to be kept, displayed, gifted, and treasured.

Today these little companions live in collections all over the world, and seeing them become part of people’s homes and stories has been one of the most meaningful parts of this journey.

Thank you for being part of the Gentlewoods story.

Two little travelers are setting off from Gentlewoods Cottage today…

They are heading to a wonderful longtime customer and will become the 59th and 60th Gentlewoods gnomes in her collection. 🤍

Both are part of the 2026 Gentlewoods Cottage Garden Series, inspired by winding paths, soft blossoms, and the quiet magic of a cottage garden.

Moments like this truly humble me. When I first began creating these little companions, I never imagined they would find their way into so many homes and collections.

If you’d like to welcome one into your own home, they can be found in my Etsy shop .. https://www.etsy.com/shop/GentlewoodsGnomes
