Happy New Year from COUPE architecture! We are thrilled to kick off 2026, especially with our new home base in Boise, Idaho. We’ve been incredibly inspired by the growth and energy of the Treasure Valley, and we are eager to contribute to the architectural landscape here and throughout the PNW and Mountain West. We have some truly exciting projects currently in development and look forward to sharing our progress with you throughout the year!

As we close out 2025, we’re excited to share a first look at a current project in Walla Walla—the heart of Washington’s wine country. Our clients approached COUPE architecture to transform their existing garage into a premier year-round entertainment space. Our proposal features a spacious lounge complete with a kitchenette and powder room, as well as a covered breezeway designed as a 'three-season' outdoor retreat. We presented the concept to the clients earlier this week, and they are thrilled to move forward!

This true Mid-Century Modern home (in Walla Walla, WA) was given new life by COUPE architecture by staying true to original detailing (but with a modern touch) - flush baseboard trim, and vertically-grain-matched walnut cabinets throughout - to name a few.

Big day today (for COUPE architecture)!

My work stream (ever since forming COUPE architecture in 2010) has been hand-sketching, SketchUp computer 3D modeling, then AutoCAD for contract drawings/documents.

AutoCAD is basically “drawing by hand” but using a computer to do so - i.e. SLOW.

As of today, COUPE architecture is going through training / tutorials to move the practice towards utilizing REVIT, a 3D BIM program.

This allows us to design, 3D model & do drawings simultaneously!…. all while maintaining full coordination of elements.

Yes, this isn’t anything new (in the architectural community), but it’s a HUGE step for sole proprietors. It’s a MAJOR cost (as REVIT isn’t cheap), and a MAJOR learning curve.

Anyways, follow along with me as I learn this program, and what I’m doing with it.
