I’ve been reflecting lately on love, marriage, and commitment. In the insta-perfect world we live in, real love is not often reflected in the images we see. Real love isn’t perfect, flawless, and polished. I’m grateful for my 80+ friend who reminded me what true love really looks like. She had been caring for her husband who had declining health for a number of years. He loved his weekly social outing of going to restaurants. One day she asked him if he wanted to try Chili’s all you can eat ribs. He agreed that sounded great! When they got to the restaurant she was informed they don’t sell all you can eat ribs. She replied, “Well, you do now! Keep them coming until he’s full.” He could no longer hear, and she never revealed the secret between her and the Chili’s staff. Each week the Chili’s staff knew when they came in, they were there for all you can eat ribs! She loved watching how happy ribs made him😄 Just before covid, he passed away. She came to me recently and asked if I could make a sign for above her bed. She loves Michael Buble and heard his song “Close your eyes,” after her husband passed. She insisted I listen to it. I did, and now every time I hear this song I think of two special people who are examples of what perfect love truly looks like❤️ I delivered it to her a few weeks before what would be their 69th wedding anniversary 🥰. 🌶
