Today’s blog post is about incandescent lighting. Some folks think that incandescent light bulbs have been deemed to be illegal and totally banned. But that’s not true. You can still get them, but you need to know what to look for and where to get them.

The lamp above has a 25 watt incandescent bulb in it and it’s on a dimmer!

It’s finally here, from England, via Atlanta, Georgia, my Georgian-style birdcage base 60” round extension table.

Alas, as per usual, not without some nail-biting drama. But, it’s here resting in its new sunny spot and getting better acquainted with its new neighbors and surroundings.

I desperately want to get out of jail and have those horrid security bars removed.

Next week, the Gracie panels are scheduled to be installed!

Please meet Jules (Julie) Georgette Smith. My new George Smith Jules sofa! Talk about a dream come true! And after her long voyage across the pond, she's looking quite at home in my 19th-century Boston condo.

But leave it to me to put the deepest trad sofa that God ever created in a space that's already tight thanks to the strict building code.

In the end, it looks better to have the sofa close to the guard rail, and then there's a good three feet between the new vintage Chinoiserie coffee table and the fireplace mantel.

Oh, in case you're waiting for the "big reveal," that's not happening. I only do little reveals. Therefore, please understand that the room is not finished. The yellow chairs, for example are the vestige of my living room in Bronxville, NY.

I hope y’all had a blessed Thanksgiving. Ours was small, but full of love and delicious food.

Thankfully, my carpenters came to the rescue and brought down the furniture stored in the den loft.

This is mostly what was here before the reno , except for the rug. However, now you can see the scope of the living room— the magnificent mantel and mirror and new alabaster chandelier from in Milwaukee, WI. The ceiling plaster rose had never been electrified until now.

Oh, how I struggled with whether to get the 24” or 30” diameter chandelier. Def . However, I bought a 30” tray and as soon as I took it out of the box, I knew that a 30” bowl would look too contemporary.

Aren’t there rules? Well, yes and no. In rooms with super high ceilings, the prevailing thinking is that the room can take a much larger size. Usually, but not always, I have found, that is not the case. After-all, the people living in the room don’t change size with the ceiling height.

If I were a real client, I would've been working on the furnishings so they could be delivered as soon as the reno was complete. Well, I have many things on order, but not everything, and there are long lead times.

By the way, there will not be any "big reveal." Instead, there will be little reveals like this one with the Anglo-Indian sconces.

They're up, but they need some tweaking. More about that on the blog.
