Landed in beautiful Italy today to do more research for my book “Wintering in Rome”.
When I visited a year ago, I knew I wanted to write a book, but I didn’t know what it was going to be about.
After just a couple of short weeks here, it was obvious.
Terrific skiing just two hours away, beautiful beaches 45 minutes away, easy train service to a number of amazing cities, and I haven’t even begun to touch on the magic that is the city of Rome and its simpatico residents.
This region has so much to offer that I had to return to gather more content to make sure I was thorough and didn’t leave any stone unturned.
Oh, the sacrifices we sometimes have to make.
I hope you follow along and are inspired.
Today I’ll leave you with the weather report.
A high of 62° and sunny skies.
For anyone who isn’t a fan of a long, cold, dark winter this obviously checks one of many boxes.
Stay tuned for cultural observations, great views and moments that make me love this place so much that I’ve chosen to write about it.

One of my favorite coves on the coast.

By day, .praiano is a beach club and at night, an elegant and romantic spot for dinner and drinks on their patio on the water or in their cave.

If you’re not staying in Praiano, it’s an easy water taxi from the neighboring towns of Positano and Amalfi.
