Charming In Charlestown!
This couple raised their two children in this mid nineteenth century townhouse. Now, the boys have left the nest and started their own families. It was time for the empty nest to get a complete update. Walls were widened from the front to the back of the first level of the three level home. This let in lots of light to the open space design. New floors, cabinets, paint and much more brought the home into the twenty-first century. New historic windows were installed and given a modern, casual yet elegant look with woven wood shades. These light weight shades are often woven with either plant materials like banana fronds, pineapple leaves and grasses. Others are woven with both natural fibers and man made materials for more durability. The front room uses Horizons bottom up/top down feature on the Roman shades. These allow the light to come in by lowering the top while the bottom of the shade keeps the space private. The very elegant and hand woven dining room shades by Conrad look stunning with the silk banding on the left and right of each shade. The kitchen area received new French doors to the side yard. The French doors and side windows are treated with another one of the many patterns Horizons has to let lots of light in during the warmer months and to block out the cold view during the colder months. After a century and half, this home is ready for our couple to retire in comfort!
