An after and before in Portland ✨

Not only does this show the power of decorating but also thoughtful design. The library originally to the left of the front door is now accessed through the parlor behind, allowing us to create a welcoming entry closet for coats and shoes - Maine essentials!

A very special bathroom in one of our favorite projects. Tucked away in a pied a terre in Portland, this little room is part time full bathroom and part time powder room. Charm-filled and nostalgic, current and classic - it keeps much of the old and is simultaneously infused with new.

Beyond!! Thank you Veranda for including our sweet Cricket Stool in your July/August issue! As we celebrate America’s 250th birthday, we are so delighted to be in the company of so many beautiful fresh takes on traditional American Design.

When we’re not down the design rabbit hole, we’ve quietly teamed up with Megan and Clay Aronson, the talented duo behind Aronson Woodworks: Bespoke Furniture & Claize™ Finishes, brewing up something special.

I first encountered Aronson Woodworks at ICFF in 2018 with a mentor of mine - the talented Josh Shockely - and was instantly drawn to their claize finish. I love the way they celebrate the wood grain, taking the pattern of something so beautiful and natural, and adding a fearless approach to color.

I then fell in love with their commitment to quality and to craft. Megan, Clay and their dedicated team in Iowa are meticulously engineering and building each piece with great care - creating modern day heirlooms to live long beyond their first owner. Whenever their pieces arrive at Rusticator | Seal Harbor, Rusticator | Seal Harbordoor quickly.

A few years ago on a summer afternoon, Megan and I were on the phone dreaming about color, dreaming about pattern and the opportunity to take their celebration of wood and material and combine it with the beauty of textiles and create something that is timeless and flexible, storied and for today. The sweet Cricket step stool was born. She’s perfect for everyday moments - we don’t know how to do life without ours!

This summer, we just introduced our second collaboration, a sweet spot table that is fun and flexible. And there might be more to come!
