Install day: Behind the Scenes

Out with the old. In with the new. Over the past few days, we removed our clients old furniture to make way for the new.

Defying Gravity 💚🩷

This year the IFDA Gala was one for the books! The theme, the people, the energy, the community, it all came together for a magical evening of celebration.

Yes, the fashion drama was evident and yes, it’s the first time I’ve attended a formal event shirtless. Damn right, it was a 32” feather boutonniere too.

Lights. Camera. Action. 📸

Days, sometimes weeks of preparation go into an interior photo shoot. Coordinating schedules with our clients, photographers and stylists, choosing and arranging florals, accessorizing, and popping Advil at the end of the day is all part of the process. And no, I’m not kidding about the Advils. 😉

Curated, collected and intentionally mismatched.

A vintage 1980s pedestal table base anchors the room, surrounded by four different dining chairs, each with its own form and personality. Textural grasscloth wraps the walls, while a painted stainless steel mesh fixture adds sculpture overhead. A photograph by Zach Ellis brings another graphic element to the room, while colorful glass candlesticks finish the table with a little fun.

From drab to dynamic: A fully custom walnut wall

We developed a new interior architecture plan for this millwork wall, creating symmetry through a new archway leading into the entry and a custom built in designed to balance the composition.

Chrome detailing between the walnut panels adds another layer of visual interest and highlights the verticality of the wall.

We also resurfaced the fireplace in an ocean inspired blue gray marble, introducing natural movement and contrast against the warmth of the walnut.

The result completely transformed the room and remains one of our favorite before and after transformations.

New Blog Drop! How to Renovate Without Dating Your Home

A home renovation is a significant investment. The goal should not be to create an interior that looks current for the next few years. It should be to create a home that continues to feel relevant long after today’s biggest design trends have changed.

For homeowners this is particularly important. Many of the homes we renovate already have a strong architectural identity. Boston brownstones, historic townhouses, coastal homes and established suburban residences often benefit from thoughtful modernization rather than complete reinvention.

Timeless interior design does not mean playing it safe or avoiding personality. Some of the most enduring interiors use dramatic stone, expressive lighting, rich woods, unusual artwork and unexpected color. The difference is that those decisions are connected to the architecture and the people living there rather than a passing trend.
