For decades, the workroom trade has quietly shaped the spaces we live in — blending craftsmanship, precision, creativity, and problem-solving into every stitch, seam, and installation.
But behind every beautifully finished room is something even more important: skilled hands and generations of knowledge passed down through mentorship and experience.
That’s why we’re proud to partner with on a new Textile Tool Program — helping introduce Boston-area students to the world of window treatment fabrication and installation and the opportunities within the textile and workroom industry.
As part of this pilot program, two commercial-grade industrial sewing machines will be placed directly into a Boston-area public high school, paired with a semester of direct mentorship from Designer Draperies of Boston CEO Julie Murphy.
We believe these trades deserve more visibility, more investment, and a new generation excited to carry them forward. 💜
Thank you to Bring Back the Trades for helping shine a light on an industry that has long deserved recognition.
