One of the questions we’re asked most often is, “When can you start?”

The honest answer is that every project has its own timeline. Some clients reach out at exactly the right moment and we’re able to begin right away. Other times, we’re deeply immersed in bringing existing projects across the finish line before taking on something new.

What we’ve learned over the years is that great design benefits from patience.

Layering patterns is often less about matching and more about creating a conversation between different elements in a room.

In this space, the checkered chairs, patterned draperies, and subtle textures throughout each bring their own personality, but they share a common thread through color, scale, and tone. The result feels collected rather than coordinated, which is often where the magic happens.

A room doesn’t need to rely on a single pattern to make an impact. When multiple patterns are thoughtfully layered, they create depth, movement, and a sense of character that feels impossible to achieve with solids alone.

Soft celadon cabinets that feel like a breath of fresh air. Marble countertops and backsplash that run the full length of the room. Patterned roman shades that add just enough texture without competing with anything. Woven leather stools that bring in warmth against all that cool, luminous color. And those lanterns, the perfect polish on top of it all.

What we love most about this kitchen is that it was designed in 2015. More than a decade later, it still feels current, relevant, and completely at home in today’s design landscape.

Trends come and go, but thoughtful proportions, natural materials, and a strong point of view tend to endure.

Sometimes the best rooms are the ones you almost walk right past.

This mudroom was designed to work hard and look even better doing it. Star wallpaper floor to ceiling, lattice cabinet fronts painted that perfect moody blue, geometric tile underfoot, and wood bench tops that warm the whole thing up. The family that lives here uses this room every single day.

Introducing Marine: a Boulder decorating project layered with color, character, and a sense of playfulness woven throughout every room.

From the patterned grasscloth wallpaper wrapping the powder bath to the custom upholstery moments and collected mix of prints across the home, this project embraces the idea that thoughtful layering makes a space feel truly lived in.

One of our favorite spaces might be the playroom designed for our clients’ twin grandsons: a room created for imagination, gathering, and growing into over time.

One of the questions we hear often:
“We love our home, but need all new furniture. Can you still help?”

Absolutely. Some of our favorite projects begin with clients wanting to reimagine what they already have, rather than starting from scratch architecturally. Layering in furnishings, rugs, lighting, window treatments, and art can completely shift the feeling of a home and breathe new life into familiar spaces.

Design isn’t always about building something entirely new. Sometimes it’s about seeing what’s already there differently.
